Paul Holmes took the overall win at
ACU British Quadcross Round 4 on his
Yamaha YFZ450R ATV

England (8/7/2012) - Paul
Holmes continued his dominance of the 2012 by
taking home another overall victory at Round 4
at the demanding sand based circuit at FatCats
Motoparc, Doncaster.
With round 3 of the Championship being cancelled
due to bad weather conditions it was nice to
see the sun out for round 4 with track conditions
perfect for the day's racing action. The crowds
flooded in and as the FatCat Motoparc is within
1 hour of where Holmes is based, he enjoyed
fantastic support track side from friends and
family who'd made the journey there.
Holmes entered the timed qualification session
feeling confident and as soon as the live timing
started following the free practice, Holmes
blasted around the course and on his first attempt
posted the quickest lap time of the session
with a 1:39.731, almost 1.2 seconds quicker
than his closest rival.
Race 1: A great start put
Holmes directly up into the top 4 as they rounded
the first corner and entered the 2 long straights
of rolling whoops. Holmes flew by his opposition
carrying immense speed and by the time he entered
the 3rd corner, he was in the number 1 spot.
Holmes continued to push hard at the beginning
of the race and set the fastest lap of the race,
gapping the chasing field. Holmes eventually
finished the race a comfortable 22 seconds clear
of 2nd placed Carl Bunce, Justin Reid in 3rd,
Connor Smith in 4th and last year’s Champion
Mitchell in 5th.
Race 2: Rounding the first
corner in 8th position, Holmes had to adapt
quickly to the demanding track and get inventive
with his line choice to make the passes needed.
With ten minutes gone, Holmes had already taken
the lead and was controlling the race when an
unfortunate incident occurred with another rider
and the race was stopped, and not re-run.
Holmes commented after the days racing
action: “Today has been tough
as I haven’t ridden sand for a long time
and it got rough out there. But, my quad was
set-up well thanks to the team and I’m
pleased to have come away with another overall
win! I need to give a huge shout out to my awesome
sponsors, and all my family and friends who
came to support me this weekend.
