England (6/5/2012)
- Round 2 of the ACU British Quad-X Championship
Series made its way to Frome, Somerset where current
points leader Paul Holmes took another overall
win and extended his Championship lead.
Round 2, Frome, England (04/06/12) The valley
based, hard pack track was in prime condition
after all the rain over the weekend, but as
the sun came out on the bank holiday race day,
so did the A game of HOLMES Racing's Paul Holmes.
With an unfortunate technical issue with the
live timing screens, Holmes was un-aware of
his progress through qualification and had to
settle with a lap which was good enough for
2nd place.

DWT's Paul Holmes took the Holeshot
in Race 1 aboard his Yamaha YFZ450R ATV |
Race 1:
With mid week start training paying off, Holmes
claimed a huge Holeshot over the chasing field
of 32 riders, rounding the first corner in first
place and immediately put in the charge to gap
the field. Holmes pushed hard for the first
4 laps, setting the fastest lap of the race
and pulled out a gap of about 10 seconds which
he held until the finish flag claiming his third
win in a row this year.
Race 2:
As a multi quad pile-up caught out Holmes in
the first turn, he set off in last place and
headed after the field with the overall victory
looking difficult. Holmes stayed strong and
used his speed and imagination to make some
spectacular passing on the field and whilst
setting another fastest lap of the race Holmes
pushed his way all the way to 4th place by the
end of the race.
Holmes claimed the overall win by 7 points,
extending his Championship lead now to 15 points.
Holmes commented after the days racing action;
“I am really pleased with my riding and
how today turned
out, I was able to ride my own race in race
1, and was unlucky to get caught up in the pile-up
in race 2.
I knew if I kept going though I was able to
get into the top 5 and still had the chance
for the overall win
which I eventually took so everything worked
out well. I need to say a huge thanks to the
team and
everyone who came and helped this weekend, and
also a huge thanks to my great supporting sponsors.
The team and I are now heading to Italy for
Round 3 of the European Championship which I
hope to carry
this momentum into.
