Whitehaven, England (7/26/2011) - Dean
Moor, (24 July 2011)
HOLMES Racing’s Paul Holmes rode well
at the fourth round of the 2011 Goldspeed British
Quadcross
Championship series, continuing to show speed
and consistency taking Runner-up spot on the
podium
last weekend.
The fast and flowing hard-pack based circuit
at Dean Moor, in Cumbria, set the stage for
more tight racing this season and once again
it was Paul Holmes who was the fastest man in
qualification and made it three from three first
place times in this year’s qualifiers
that he has attended.
Race 1: As the gate
dropped, and as the packed funnelled into the
first corner, Holmes was unfortunate to round
the first corner mid-pack and by the end of
the first lap found himself with a lot of work
to do down in 13th place. With immense dust
and fast speeds Holmes had to be patient and
settle into the pace of the guys in front as
passing was risky due to the conditions. With
a few laps gone and riders starting to separate
Holmes began his charge to the front and by
mid-point of the race had put himself into sixth
place. He continued to show his passing abilities
until the closing stages of the race and took
third place at the checkered flag. Paul Holmes

Goldspeed British Quadcross Championship Holmes
commented after the day’s action: “Today’s
track was really fast and hard packed and with
the closely matched riders meant it was tough
to pass on and with not an ideal two starts,
I’m happy with my finishes.

his way up from fifth place in Moto
2 Holmes claimed second before crossing
the finish line

I’ve really enjoyed today and as this
was the closest race to home I even had some
great support from friends and family and want
to say a huge thanks to them for coming up to
cheer me on. I’ve got to give it up again
to my sponsors and the team for working so hard
and helping me to get on the Podium again! and
a personal thanks to Mr McMilne”
Race 2: Looking for
a better result, Holmes flew out of the gate
and rounded the first corner in fifth place.
Paul battled through to third place by lap four
but, with the early leaders getting away, it
was tough to close them in, however, Holmes
worked hard to claim second place by the end
of the race. Holmes’s third and second
places on the day gave him the round’s
Runner-up position overall and moved him nicely
up the championship standings to 5th. Remembering
that he has only been able to attend 3 of the
4 rounds so far this year due to the early year
event clash with the European Championship where
he currently sits in 2nd place shows how quickly
he is climbing up the positions in this tightly
contested series.
Holmes next heads to Kegums, in Latvia on the
7th - 8th August for Round 6 of the European
Championship where he currently sits as the
highest British rider in second place.
