Bakersfield, CA (9/17/2014) - It was a winning weekend for the Maxxis/ H&M Motorsports team as Beau Baron claimed the win and clinched the 2014 WORCS Pro SXS Championship while David Haagsma took dual wins in the SXS 1000 and ATV Pro classes.

Glen Helen was the hosting facility for round eight of the WORCS series, which saw temps soar to 111 degrees, taking a toll on both man and machine. Despite the heat, Beau Baron was ready as he left the starting line in the Pro SXS class.
Baron was in second off the start and took the lead by the second lap. Once out front, Baron was unstoppable as he charged his way to the finish line for the win and the 2014 WORCS SXS Pro championship.

“It was a big deal for me to win. The SXS classes are getting tougher all the time and there are a lot more competitors out there. I did most of my own maintenance this year, so I am very stoked to get the championship. It was a lot of hard work, and I am really happy to be able to win this not only for myself but for my sponsors as well,” said Baron.

David Haagsma also had an amazing race in the SxS 1000 class. Haagsma was in the number five spot off the start after getting pushed out in the first turn, but kept his cool despite the heat. Haagsma got to work and began picking off the competition and eventually caught the leader.

“The heat was starting to get to the cars, and I just kept pushing. My Maxxis tires were hooking up great and I was able to make a pass, take the lead, and the win,” said Haagsma, who has a 10 point lead in the SXS 1000 class and is hoping to clinch the championship at the final round in October.

Haagsma’s luck didn’t stop with the SXS class. The number 422 racer charged off the start in the Pro ATV class and never looked back. Despite an issue with the course being misrouted off the start, Haagsma led from start to finish and took his second win of the season.

“It was a great day overall. My Maxxis tires hooked up and I got the holeshot. The heat was a huge factor, so I really had to ride smart,” said Haagsma.

Beau Baron got a great start, but he got caught up in the routing issue with the course in the first lap and fell back to fourth place. Baron charged his way through traffic and by lap five had worked his way to second place. Unfortunately, by that time, the combination of battling and the heat took its toll, and Baron settled in for a second place finish.

“I got a good start and I was set up to take the turn wide to go up the hill and got caught in the routing issue. That put me back to fourth, and I had to fight my way back up. By the time I got to second and could see David, I was so tired from the heat that I just didn’t have anything left, so I just tried to ride smart and finish the race,” said Baron, who claimed a respectable second place finish.

The final round of the 2014 WORCS series will have the H&M Motorsports team heading to Buffalo Bill’s in Primm, NV on October 17-19th where they will battle it out for the last race of the season.
