Taft, CA (5/14/2013) - The H&M Motorsports team took Honolulu Hills by storm at the fifth round of the Rocky Mountain ATV MC WORCS. Beau Baron won the Pro ATV class and took a close second in the Pro Production SxS race, while David Haagsma took second in the Pro ATV race and won the SxS Production 700 Class.

The track was very challenging at Honolulu Hills, with an odd mix of powdery dust and thick mud. The dust created vision problems as racers couldn’t see the ruts and holes along the track. The mud came from the WORCS track crews effort to keep the dust down, but the unpredictability of where it was wet and dry added to the challenge of the race.

Beau Baron was third off the line in the Pro ATV class; he quickly used his Curtis Sparks Racing engine to move into second and get behind his teammate, David Haagsma. The duo charged away from the rest of the pack and Baron used a wide corner to take the lead from Haagsma on lap five. Baron continued to charge and laid down the fastest laps of the race until the checkers flew on lap eight.

This is Baron’s fourth win in a row and he credits his H&M Motorsports Team for his success, “A big shout out to my Maxxis Tires. The track was really dry slick and traction was ultra-important. My tires worked great from the start to the last lap. My Elka suspension was strong and didn’t fade at all. Doug Roll did an awesome job helping me get my set up with Elka and Roll Design A-Arms and my Curtis Sparks Engine pulled hard from start to finish.  I couldn’t ask for anything more, my team and everyone did a great job,” said Baron.

David Haagsma rocketed off the line in the Pro ATV class and claimed theholeshot with his Curtis Sparks Racing engine. He continued to power forward and attempted to gap the rest of the pro field. As he charged along, he caught a glimpse of Baron behind him and kicked his race up a gear to try a loose him.

“I got a great start and few corners in I looked behind me and saw Beau (Baron) back there and I knew I was in trouble. I was hoping he would get held up a bit, but I just tried to be fast and discourage him. He’s a tough competitor and he got up behind me; I went a little wide and he got back and that was the end of the story,” recalls Haagsma of his race with Baron.

Once Haagsma was in second he was able to ride his own race and was uncontested for the rest of the laps. He crossed the checkers over two minutes ahead of third.

In the SxS racing side of the things, the H&M Motorsports duo put on another stellar performance. Haagsma got off the line in the front of the SxS Production 700 class and began to gap the field in his H&M Motorsports Polaris RZR 570. Haagsma maintained the lead for all four laps and turned the fastest lap time on lap two, an impressive 10:56.592. His hard charge showed off as he won his class by 35.215. This is Haagsma’s fourth win in a row in the SxS Production 700 class.
