Anza, CA (5/8/2013) - Chilly temperatures and cloudy skies made for a cool day of racing at the third round of the Yamaha Quad-X Series in Anza, California. David Haagsma raced his H&M Motorsports backed Honda to two moto victories to take his second win of the season. Teammate Beau Baron scored 2-2 to earn second.

David Haagsma took command of the first moto when he grabbed the holeshot with his Sparks Racing powered Honda. Haagsma continued to charge and had a bit of a challenge from his teammate, but successfully maintained the lead throughout the moto.

“Beau (Baron) and I had a good moto. We battled it out till the end and it was a good time. My H&M Motorsports Honda was working awesome,” regarded Haagsma of moto one.

In the QuadX Pro Moto 2, Haagsma had to battle his teammate #549 Beau Baron after coming off the starting gate in third. Haagsma would take the lead with 2 laps to go

Haagsma had a little more work to do in moto two; he was third off the gate behind Baron and another racer and had to work hard on the single line track to make a pass. Once Haagsma got into second, he began an exciting wheel to wheel battle with Baron. The pair spared back and forth until Haagsma finally built enough momentum to make the pass stick. Once Haagsma took the lead he held it for the final two laps.

“The second moto was a good time. I had some work to do to take over the lead and Beau really made me work for it. My Sparks engine was pulling awesome and my Maxxis Tires got great traction in both the hard pack and the soft sections of the track,” said Haagsma.

Beau Baron was in third off the line in the first moto and made quick work of second position to fall into place behind his teammate. Once the Maxxis Tires duo got together they had a race of their own. Baron made a few attempts to take the lead from his teammate, but there were limited sections where clean passes were possible. He crossed the finish right behind Haagsma.

“The first moto wasn’t too eventful. Once I got behind Davi (Haagsma) we just cruised along. I could’nt make a clean pass so I just went with second,” explained Baron of moto one.

Baron used his Sparks Racing powered motor to grab the moto two holeshot and quickly tried to pull away from the pack. He was on his own until Haagsma caught up to him midway through the laps. He and Haagsma put on a good show and the pair each worked hard for the lead. Baron dropped to second with just two laps to go when Haagsma took an outside line and edged him out. His 2-2 scores earned him second for the day.

The H&M Motorsports team will return to the starting gate on June 29th for the fourth round of the Yamaha Quad-X Series.  David Haagsma will be looking to extend his points lead while his teammate, Beau Baron, seeks his first win of the season.
