Pala, CA (8/1/2013) - The H&M Motorsports / Maxxis Tire’s duo of David Haagsma and Beau Baron made an appearance at the ninth round of the AMA Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National Championship Series in Buchanan, Michigan. With the help of the team’s generous sponsors and a lot of planning both Haagsma and Baron were geared up to take on their East Coast counter parts.
David Haagsma had two fast qualifying rounds. In the first qualifier, he raced to a fourth place finish; he then crossed the checkers in sixth on the second qualifier. Haagsma had a good gate pick for moto one, but didn’t get the start that he’s used to. He was in thirteenth as the pros rocketed around the track; he put on a charge and moved up to eleventh on lap three. Haagsma was working his way up when he ran into mechanical issues that sidelined him for the rest of the round.

“I had a lot of fun. The track was perfect, the guys are gnarly out here and I was having a blast. I wish the outcome would’ve been better, but I am glad we made the trip. I can’t thank our sponsors enough; this was a lot of time, money and effort. I defiantly want to make more nationals next season,” said Haagsma after the round.

Beau Baron - Honda 450R ATV

Beau Baron also ran two great qualifying rounds before the start of moto one. He had a good start off the gate and quickly started making passes. A mistake over a jump caused his Honda to endo; before landing Baron decided to bail and the crash resulted in him being struck by his quad. Baron was ok, but was unable to race the second moto after the accident.

“This was a good time, the track was set up great and I was super stoked to come out. I got really lucky with the crash and although I wanted better results, I am happy to be leaving healthy. Huge thank you to everyone that made it possible for David and I to come out here,” regarded Baron.

Although this was the H&M Team’s only AMA Motocross National appearance this year, they will be back on the track in a few weeks at the Glen Helen for WORCS.
