first place & was joined on podium

Bakersfield, CA (1/24/2011) -
H&M Motorsport’s Beau Baron and David
Haagsma started the season off right as Beau
Baron charged his way to the top of the podium
at round one of the 2012 WORCS ATV racing series,
while David Haagsma joined him on the box with
his first ever pro podium finish.
Glen Helen was the hosting facility, which
saw plenty of rain during Friday night into
Saturday. Fortunately, the weather cleared
and the track began to dry out just in time
for Sunday’s pro main event. Due to
the weather the course was changed up a bit,
but it also included a very tricky WORCS-X
section that featured huge tractor tires that
proved to be so difficult for many riders
in the first few laps, that parts of the section
were cut out in the fourth lap.

Anticipation was high as racers lined up
for the first pro main event of the year and
H&M Motorsport’s Beau Baron and
David Haagsma were eager for the gate to drop.
As they left the line, David Haagsma grabbed
the holeshot, with Beau Baron close behind
in second. In the second lap, Baron was able
to take the lead after Haagsma got hung up
in the WORCS-X section. “I made it through
that section pretty easily when a lot of other
people had problems. I was kind of lucky that
way because it allowed me to get a head and
relax a little and stay focused,” said
Baron.
Baron kept a strong and fast pace and held
his lead until he stopped to pit in the eighth
lap, which put him back to second. Baron was
not about to settle and charged hard, overtaking
the leader after just two laps. Despite intense
pressure, Baron held his lead for the final
laps to secure the first win of the 2012 WORCS
series.

holeshot in the WORCS Pro ATV Class

“David and I came off the start in
first and second. It was a really good start
and I just kept the momentum going. I have
to thank H&M Motorsports and Maxxis Tires
for everything; they really came through for
us. I am really happy to take the win, and
hopefully, I can do it again at the next round,”
stated Baron.

David Haagsma was nothing short of impressive
as he shot off the line and grabbed the holeshot.
Haagsma led for the entire first lap, but
in lap two, the WORCS-X section got the best
of him and he fell back. Haagsma was not about
to give up and remounted a charge and battled
his way to the number three spot before crossing
the finish line. Haagsma’s third place
finish was quite an accomplishment as it was
his first-ever WORCS pro podium finish.
“I got a great start! I really have
to thank Curtis Sparks and Maxxis Tires for
that. I pulled everyone and got a clean lap
in. After I got hung up, I just tried to make
up time and kept passing people. It felt awesome
to finish on the podium. I wish I could have
been up there battling for the win, but I
am pretty happy with third right now,”
stated Haagsma.
Round number two of the 2012 WORCS series
is scheduled for February 11th – 12th
at Buffalo Bill’s Casino and Resort
where H&M Motorsport’s Beau Baron
and David Haagsma will be racing for the podium.
