Bakersfield, CA (11/12/2012) - Eight out of ten wins at the Quad X Series proved to be the recipe for a championship for H&M Motorsport / Maxxis Tire’s David Haagsma.

Haagsma went 1-1 at round ten at the Glen Helen Raceway to earn his first ever Pro ATV Championship. Teammate Beau Baron earned 3-3 finishes which set him up to round out the top three overall for the season.

The pressure was on David Haagsma to get his Sparks powered Honda out front at the final round of Quad X. Haagsma didn’t falter in the first moto as he grabbed the holeshot and never looked back.

“Moto one was a really clean race. My Honda worked just as it needed to and I was able to stay out front. It was a good race,” regarded Haagsma.

The second moto didn’t go as smooth as the first. Haagsma had to switch motors between motos and didn’t have quite the power he was used to. Haagsma got off the gate mid pack and the racers didn’t seem to hold their lines and got jumbled up before the first turn.

Haagsma made quick work of the pack and was up to second position by the second lap. He set his sights on passing the leader in order to earn the championship. A mistake by the front runner and better tires allowed Haagsma to take over the lead.

“My Maxxis XMR tires were the main reason I took the lead. He kept sliding out and my tires got such great grip. They hooked up and I was able to put the hammer down,” said Haagsma of his battle for the win.

The win in the second moto not only gave Haagsma his eight win of the season but also secured the Quad X Championship for him and the H&M Motorsport Team. “It just feels great to win this. Great for me and my team,” said Haagsma.

Maxxis / H&M Motorsports Beau Baron went 3-3 to secure third place overall & third in the 2012 Yamaha Quad-X Racing Series Pro Production Championship

Beau Baron earned 3-3 finishes for the day and not only secured the third position on the podium at round ten but also third place in the points chase for the 2012 Quad X Season.

Baron got off the gate in third position in the first moto. He battled every lap with second spot but couldn’t get the pass to stick. He stayed in gear though and took third just four tenths of a second behind second place.

“I was going fast today. Everything was working well. My Sparks engine was pulling great and my suspension was perfect,” said Baron.

In the second moto Baron didn’t get his best start and had to work his way through the pack. He made his was to third position but before he could make a move for second his ATV began to knock. He didn’t want to get sidelined so he backed off a bit. By riding as wide as he could and rolling the jumps Baron held off the competition and rounded out the top three.

“It was a good day. I have so much confidence in my set up. My tires have so much bite you always know what they’re going to do and my quad felt awesome,” regarded Baron of round ten.

The H&M Motorsport Team had a fantastic first year. The team earned the two biggest championships in the West with Beau Baron earning the WORCS title and David Haagsma securing the Quad X series. The team hopes to add more backing and come out swinging for the 2013 season.
