the 2012 Yamaha Quad-X ATV Motocross
Racing Series |
Bakersfield, CA (3/14/2012) - Maxxis/H&M
Motorsports’ David Haagsma and Beau Baron
dominated the competition off the start at rounds
one and two of the 2012 Yamaha Quad X series,
grabbing all four holeshots between them, while
David took his first pro overall win at round
two and was joined on the podium by teammate
Beau Baron.
Glen Helen was the hosting facility for the
double header round, where great weather was
on tap for what would be a great weekend for
the Maxxis / H&M Motorsports team. “It
was sort of a last minute decision for us
to race, but I’m really glad we were
able to have everything together and make
it out,” said David Haagsma.
As the gate dropped for the first moto of
round one, David Haagsma grabbed the holeshot
and never looked back thanks to his Curtis
Sparks engine. Haagsma rode a flawless race
and led from start to finish, claiming his
first pro moto win. “It felt great to
take that holeshot and follow it up with a
win,” stated Haagsma.

for Quad-X Round 1 |
In the second moto, Haagsma got off to another
good start and ended in the number four spot,
which put him in second place on the pro podium.
“The first day went really well. Our
quads were handling great and even in the
sand they had awesome power,” said Haagsma.
For round two, which was held the following
day, Haagsma again had an amazing run. “I
was in second behind Beau for a few laps and
was able to move into the lead with four laps
left. I was able to hold the lead and take
the moto win again,” Haagsma explained.
For moto two, all Haagsma needed was to finish
in second place to get the overall win. Haagsma
rode a smart race after getting off to another
good start. Haagsma was in third for several
laps and was able to make the pass on his
teammate, Baron, late in the moto, claiming
second at the checkered flag, and taking his
first ever pro overall win in the series.
“It really felt great to take that overall
win and be tied for the points lead. I have
to thank everyone at Maxxis, H&H Motorsports
and Curtis Sparks for doing such a great job
with our motors,” said Haagsma.

both Pro holeshot with his Curtis Sparks
Engine finishing third in round 2 |
Beau Baron had a good weekend as well as
he charged off the start in the first moto
of the season in a solid second place, and
claimed third at the checkered flag. From
that point on, Baron was impossible to beat
of the start as he grabbed the moto two holeshot.
“My timing all weekend was really good
on the gate and the Curtis Sparks engines
were awesome,” said Baron, who finished
in third for moto two as well, giving him
fourth overall for the day.
For round two, Baron again owned the holeshot.
Baron grabbed both moto holeshots and took
solid 2-3 finishes to put him on the podium
in the number three spot. “It was tough
out there. We were all racing really close
and it was pretty exciting. I am so happy
I was able to get three out of four holeshots
this weekend. I have to thank Maxxis, H&M,
Sparks and everyone for helping us have a
great weekend. It was awesome to see David
get the overall win on Sunday and finish on
the podium with him,” said Baron.
Round number three of the 2012 Yamaha Quad
X Series will head to Competitive Edge MX
in Hesperia, CA on April 22nd, where the Maxxis
H&M Motorsports team will be going for
the podium and the points lead.
