H&M
Motorsports' David Haagsma took the
Pro ATV holeshot and third overall in
the ATV Pro Class |
Bakersfield, CA (6/28/2011) - H&M
Motorsports’ David Haagsma continued his
ways at last weekends Yamaha Quad X race, where
he took an impressive 3rd place finish and captured
another Pro Holeshot award following last rounds’
WORCS race in Idaho.
In the first moto, Haagsma would have a poor
gate pick due to points in the Yamaha Quad
X series, but after two laps in, Davi would
soon work his way up to the front pack and
battle the entire race to finish a solid 4th F
in Moto one.
After a 4th place in moto 1, Haagsma would
get a solid gate choice for the second moto.
Davi pulled holeshot and would lead the Pros
into the first turn, capturing his second
holeshot in the last two consecutive races.
Along with the lead in the Pro class, Davi
would pull more confidence in this highly
competitive field. Haagsma led the entire
race with 2-3 laps to go where he would make
a small mistake and let series leader Dustin
Nelson by. Haagsma stayed focused and finished
second, giving him a 4-2 on the weekend for
a 3rd O/A and his first ever Pro podium in
both off-road and his only second Pro MX race.
“I had a poor start in Moto 1 as they
gate you from your series results and this
being my 2nd Quadcross event this year, I
had no choice but to pick late on my gate
choice. Second moto was much better, I had
4th pick, got a great start and led them into
the first turn and most of the race. It felt
good to lead those guys for awhile and reassure
myself I can run their pace. I made a small
mistake late in the race which allowed Nelson
to get around, but I tailed him and finished
up with a strong 2nd. I enjoy mixing it up
a bit with MX and Off-road and I’m really
looking forward to the WORCS Washington event
because I feel like I do well in the trees
and those conditions. ” David Haagsma.
Our bike was good this weekend, we had a great
set-up and our team did awesome”, said
Allan McCostlin of H&M Motorsports. Jay
Gobel of Elka dialed us in a few weeks back
with the new Stage 5 shocks & Curtis Sparks
built us a rocket in this new MX engine. We’ll
head down to Glen Helen in July for Rnd #5
of the Yamaha Quad X series then take a break
and get ready for Washington in a couple of
months.”
Haagsma will head into summer break before
returning to the WORCS series, Aug. 21st for
round #6 at the famous Washougal facility
just outside of Portland, OR in Washougal,
Wa. Haagsma currently sits 5th in points,
just 5 shy of DWT/Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson.
