Motorsports' Davi Haagsma Race Report
|
California (4/5/2010) - H&M’s
Davi Haagsma made his Pro-Am debut in the prestigious
AMA ATV MX Championships series this past weekend
in Pell city, Alabama. Haagsma, who has relocated
to the mideast for this series, came out and
placed a solid 13th in the Pro-Am Production
class that saw a 34+ rider field.
Davi started off with a hectic week as he spent
Tues., Wed & Thurs. with Jay Goble of Elka
Suspension, dialing in the shocks. The team
arrived at the track on Thursday, rode practice
on Friday and used the Pro-Am Unlimited on Saturday
to set up the rest of the bike and get ready
for the busy weekend ahead.
On Sunday, Davi qualified 17th for the Pro-Am
Production class which led to a poor gate pick
and a mid pack start for Moto one. After gating
back in the pack, Haagsma would make his way
up to 13th where he would finish his first AMA
moto.
“I knew this first one was going to be
tough. I’m not going to lie, I was nervous
for this first race. We’ve been working
so hard, and getting everything dialed, sometimes
racers put alot of pressure on themselves and
this was one of those cases. But, I have no
complaints and I’m glad to get the first
one under my belt.”, said Haagsma Tuesday
morning.

In Moto two, Davi actually gated well and then
got pinched at the top of the hill. After revamping
and getting back under way, Haagsma would ride
a steady and smart race for another 13th finish,
giving him a 15th O/A on the day.
“I am extremely happy with Davi for his
first AMA race. It’s a whole different
ball game in MX and it’s difficult just
to qualify in this HUGE Pro-Am class. Were looking
forward to round 2 at Ballance MX Park.”
