Primm, NV (10/22/2013) - GMR Racing’s Grant Mitchell claimed the WORCS season finale pro-Am class win to secure the 2013 WORCS Racing Pro-Am Championship after a tight points battle aboard his Maxxis / Sparks Racing / Elka backed Honda 450R.

After starting the race in the top five, Mitchell quickly charged his way into the second spot behind Waxman, and in lap four, Mitchell made the pass for the lead.  “I got off to a great start with my Sparks Engine and Maxxis tires because they were hooking up great, which allowed me to charge to the front , said Mitchell on taking over the lead.

In lap six, Mitchell lost the lead to Sloan, but Mitchell quickly regained it the following lap, and he held onto the lead for the remaining five laps for the win.
“My Elka shocks were working  awesome in the whoops and deep ruts, which really made a difference in the final laps of the race and allowed me to hold onto the lead for the win,” said Mitchell.

Mitchell’s win allowed him to edge out Bryce Peart for the WORCS Pro-Am Championship by a slim two point margin with Peart finishing in the fourth spot.   Mitchell knew that he needed to win for any chance of claiming the championship, and he did just that. The Buffalo Bill’s race track hasn’t always been good to him, but his hard work has paid off, and Mitchell was the only the Pro-Am racer to finish on the lead lap with the Pros.

“Last time we were here, I crashed and had some problems. Today, I lost the front brakes, but I did what I needed to do and won, which wrapped up the championship for all my sponsors,” said Mitchell.

Mitchell’s win was his third of the season, and he claimed them all in the final four rounds, which has him looking forward to defending his WORCS Pro-Am  #1 plate in 2014, and the 2014 WORCS season is set to begin in just under four months in California at Honolulu Hills.
