Irwin, PA (9/24/2013) - Chris Bithell lit up the history books at the inaugural Car-Mate Gusher GNCC in Foxburg, PA. Bithell lead all four laps to claim his first victory of the 2013 Grand National Cross Country Season.
Rain plagued the start of the event and Bithell ripped off the line with his Maxxis Tires and ATV Innovations motor; he almost got caught up in a tangle around the second turn, but managed to pull away in a mid-pack position. Bithell continued to run around fourth position until the 9.5 mile marker where he jumped in second position. Bithell then overtook the lead around the tenth mile. He charged through scoring with a 03.610 lead.
Bithell put the hammer down and worked to extend his lead through the mud and pouring rain. The HMF back racer laid down the fastest lap of the race, a quick 33:25.547 and was able to advance to a 39.172 lead by lap two. Bithell remained in the lead as he crossed the checkers on the final lap. He won by an impressive 59.640.

“Today was great. Everything on my Reliable Tool Supply Suzuki worked flawlessly. The Maxxis Tires were key in all the slop, and I was able to power through everything. The IQ bumper and parts worked amazing and took the terrain great. I really can’t say enough about my sponsors and everyone that helps me,” regarded Bithell from the podium. “I really wanted this win. I have been working really hard this year, as have my sponsors, family and pit crew.”
Governor Tom Corbett of Pennsylvania presented Bithell with trophy featuring an oil gusher that the race was named after. Bithell wasn’t quite finished after the podium celebration wrapped up though and went on to spend another night at the track and race a dirt bike for the KR4 Team in the Sunday afternoon race.
Bithell lined up for the race and took off in the 4 Stroke A Lites Class. Bithell was last off the line, as his machine didn’t fire right away. He moved in sixth of the thirteen man field by the end of lap one. Bithell continued to charge and took over fifth on lap three. Although he was moving well and having a great time, Bithell pulled off the track mid-way into the race. He still managed a top ten finish in the class.
“I had a great time and can’t thank the KR4 Team and their Arrive N Ride program enough. My bike was set up flawlessly and it was an awesome time,” said Bithell after the race.
Bithell will be back on four wheels in a few weeks at the Powerline Park GNCC in St. Clairsville, Ohio. He will be looking to carry his momentum from his win to again put the #4 Maxxis Tires backed Suzuki out front.
