GNCC Walker Fowler
Attempts Perfect Season at Loretta Lynn's
Chris Bithell
& Taylor Kiser duke it Out for the Number
Three Plate
Morgantown, WV (11/3/2011) -
Rockstar Makita Suzuki's Chris
Borich wrapped up his third consecutive XC1 Pro
Championship in the penultimate round of the Can-Am
Grand National Cross Country Series just two weeks
ago in Indiana and this weekend the ATV off-road
star will compete at Loretta Lynn's Ranch to prove
that he is indeed the fastest ATV racer on the circuit.
But not without a fight from second place racer
Adam McGill, who has put his Warnert Racing Can-Am
machine in the center of the podium twice this season,
in addition to a consistent slate of podium finishes.
McGill no longer has a chance at the title this
year, but this weekend's finale could be a platform
for McGill to showcase what's to come in 2012 by
ending with a race-win.
2011 XC2 Pro Am Champion Walker Fowler will once
again contest Borich and the rest of the XC1 Pro
field in the overall competition, a challenge
in which the young Ohio racer has conquered from
the second row on two different occasions. Rather
than moving up to the Pro ranks after securing
the Pro Am title with a handful of races to go,
Fowler chose to remain in the XC2 division to
attempt an undefeated season in his class. Fowler
has won 12 consecutive races so far this season
and a Loretta Lynn's class-win could make GNCC
Racing history.
Only three points separate Ballance Racing Yamaha's
Taylor Kiser and Warnert Racing Can-Am's Chris
Bithell in the championship point standings, and
this weekend's two-hour race will determine which
ATV racer sports the number three plate in 2012.
As the season concludes and factory deals are
forming for next season, the final round of racing
has never been more significant - the fate of
2012 will come down to the last moments of Saturday's
ATV race.
The Loretta Lynn's course is the oldest and most
dynamic stop on the GNCC tour, as the hills of
Tennessee make for rough and rocky trails with
plenty diabolical obstacles in between.
Several other class championships will wrap up
this weekend at the Loretta Lynn's Ranch and the
excitement of the season finale will be second
to none.
Local riders are invited to race the event as
well, as GNCC racing offers classes for riders
of all skill and experience levels. The amateur
racer entry fee is $40 and riders can sign up
at the track.
Spectator passes run $15 for the full weekend,
with pro pit access and pro autographs at no additional
charge. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, youth
riders race at 8 a.m., beginner riders race at
10 a.m., and the top amateurs and the pros race
at 1 p.m.
