Racing Head s to Loretta Lynn's for Final Round
GNCC ATV
Racing - Round 13 - Hurricane Mills, TN - November
5, 2011
Morgantown, WV (11/2/2011) -
The Can-Am Grand National Cross
Country Series has one-of-a-kind weekend planned
for this weekend's season finale at Loretta Lynn
Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn. The event hosts
the first-ever GNCC double header, with bikes racing
on Friday and Sunday and ATVs race on Saturday.
In addition, following the tradition of the popular
special events that line the Red Bull AMA Amateur
National Motocross Championship at the Ranch, GNCC
Racing will host a variety of special events off
the track, with GNCC TV Announcer Jason Weigandt
serving as host.
Events include the return of GNCC Idol, inviting
any and all talents to the Loretta Lynn's Pavilion
on Friday night at 7 p.m. for a chance to win
some great prizes from the GNCC Series sponsors.
It's a fun way to cap off the first-ever Friday
race in GNCC history.
Saturday packs a spectacle as well, including
50cc racing for kids, the Seat Time Awesomeness
competition of rowing machine and tire changing
prowess, and a Parts Unlimited dinner.
Jason Weigandt, the host of GNCC Racing's Racer
TV on Versus and the AMA Motocross Championship
on NBC, SPEED, and Fuel TV will return to his
roots of GNCC Racing this weekend at the race,
hosting the special events at night and rejoining
his long time announcing partner Rodney Tomblin
during the races all weekend long.
"As the riders would say, I'm super pumped
about getting back to the GNCCs this weekend,"
says Weigandt, who first joined the tour as an
announcer and reporter in 2001. "I cover
a lot of supercross, motocross races nowadays,
but I've always said that the GNCC Series has
the best people you'll ever meet, and the racing
is second-to-none. Now I get to catch three-straight
days of racing--this is the perfect weekend to
come back!"
On Saturday, the co-sanctioned AMA East National
Harescramble (NEHS) 50cc race will take place
at 4 p.m., following the afternoon ATV race. Sign-up
for the 50cc race will take place at GNCC registration
and more information can be found on the series
website.
After the 50cc race is underway, head over to
the pavilion where the Seat Time Awesomeness Competition
will take place around 4 p.m. The Tire Changing
station challenges competitors to remove one side
of the tire, replace the tube, place the tire
back on the rim and then fill the tire to over
20psi in the fastest time possible. For the Concept2
Rowing Competition, a competitor will knock out
their fastest 250m sprint on a Concept2 Rower.
For both stations, the fastest time wins. The
Seat Time crew will be signing teams up throughout
the day on Friday and Saturday and you can also
sign up at the Seat Time display on Vendor Row.
Look for cool prizes provided by Moose Racing
and other series sponsors.
After taking part in the Seat Time Awesomeness
Competition on Saturday evening, everyone is invited
to head over to the highly popular Parts Unlimited
Dinner at 6 p.m. for food, friends and fun after
enjoying a day of racing and other special events.
Sunday is the ultimate day of racing for the
dirt bikes and probably will produce many National
class champions throughout the day. As a tribute
to GNCC Racing's committed partners, the Vendor
Challenge 5 (VC5) will take place during Sunday's
morning bike race. To qualify for the VC5, participants
must be signed up through and work for a GNCC
vendor or sponsor and must also be approved by
GNCC. To sign up for the VC5, please contact media@gnccracing.com.
May the best vendor win!
Dirt bikes will compete throughout the day on
Friday, November 4 and again on Sunday, November
6, while ATVs will compete on Saturday, November
5. Local riders are invited to race the event
as well, as GNCC racing offers classes for riders
of all skill and experience levels. The amateur
racer entry fee is $40 and riders can sign up
at the track.
Spectator passes run $15 for the full weekend,
with pro pit access and pro autographs at no additional
charge. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, youth
riders race at 8 a.m., beginner riders race at
10 a.m., and the top amateurs and the pros race
at 1 p.m.
