GBC's Braden Henthorn
Wins Pro-Am Class Steele Creek GNCC
GNCC
ATV Racing - Round 3 - Morganton, NC - March
31, 2012
Anaheim, CA (4/5/2012) - It only
took three rounds for Derisi Racing’s young
gun Braden Henthorn to find his way to the top step
of the Pro-Am podium, but he did so by outgunning
the established stars of the class in a last-lap
battle that also included his teammate Eric Hoyland.
“My GBC tires got me off to a great start,
and I just kept her rolling all day long,”
Henthorn said. “I felt like I had a bit
more that last lap and was able to make the move
from 3rd to the lead. I’m really pumped
on this win and hope there are more coming soon,”
the 17-year-old phenom went on to say after taking
his first win in front of a huge Steele Creek
crowd. Hoyland was able to land himself on the
podium as well for the second time this season
with a 3rd place finish, and sits solidly in 2nd
place in the series points standings.
BNR’s Kevin Yoho led the way for GBC with
his 8th place in the XC1 Pro class and finished
just ahead of Henthorn in the overall results.
Johnny Gallagher struggled to a 10th in XC1, still
feeling the lingering effects of an illness. Bryan
Cook returned to GNCC competition after missing
two rounds with a solid 11th place finish in XC1.
Cook will be running only a partial schedule in
2012 but be on the lookout for big results from
this former event winner.
AJ Koontz earned Junior A class win number two
on the year and missed out on the top amateur
honors by a mere 16 seconds. Jay Shadron kept
his win streak rolling in the College B class
and has a firm grip on the points lead over fellow
GBC rider Kevin McKeown, who placed 3rd in North
Carolina.
Forrest Whorton grabbed yet another win aboard
his Dirt Commander equipped Can-Am, this time
by a margin of more than 10 minutes! Bryan Buckhannon
battled for the 4x4 Open class all the way to
the final turn, ultimately coming up just inches
short and settling for 2nd place on the day. He
retains a comfortable points lead.
The Team of GBC athletes will return to action
Saturday, April 14th at Big Buck Farm in Cross
Anchor, South Carolina. Be sure to check in on
your favorite GBC riders’ progress and keep
an eye out for some new contests coming your way
on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
