Long Beach, CA (5/18/2011) - A
brand new location greeted our GBC racers as round
six of the Can Am GNCC series headed to Gosport,
Indiana for what looked to be an outstanding set
up for what would become a disastrous race for many,
thanks entirely to severe weather that impacted
the region near the end of the Afternoon race. The
weather was so severe that officials were forced
in ending the race short of its two hour time.
GBC racer Jeff Pickens was off to a great start
as he grabbed the holeshot in the XC1 Pro class.
Pickens has been suffering from bad luck and was
looking forward to getting his Yamaha out front
and putting in a good race. After scoring his
1st lap, Pickens would snap a spindle, which ended
his race early. Jeff still holds 10th in points
and will have to look ahead to the next round
to set things right.

GBC
Motorsports' Jeff Pickens took the early
lead by taking the holeshot in the XC1 Pro
ATV Class |
Fellow XC1 Pro Johnny Gallagher would run strong
during the race but would be unable to advance
his position after the weather turned in his favor.
Gallagher is a well known mud riding specialist
and as the conditions worsened, everyone looked
to see if he could put his skills to work. The
torrential rains came too late to allow a charge
and Gallagher would cross the finish line in the
12th position.

|
Once the rain set in Gallagher
picked up the pace but was was unable to
advance position before the checkered flag
waved |
GBC's
Bryan Cook was able to finish eight in the
XC1 Pro class by making his way threw the
mud and dust |
In XC2, Eric Hoyland would suffer a crash early
in the race which impacted his performance throughout
the remainder of the race. Hoyland would settle
for eighth and holds third in class points.
The morning race would offer better conditions
for GBC Motorsport’s Kristen Atwell who
claimed another holeshot in the Women's class.
Atwell was off and running but soon found herself
dropping back to 4th but would continue to charge
through the course and would finish in second
place. Kristen currently holds the third spot
in class points.
We would like to congratulate all our racers
for their hard work and look forward to seeing
them back in action at round 7 which will be another
new location as the series heads to Rock Run,
PA on May 28th. With severe weather forcing the
cancellation of round five, and round six being
cut short, we know our riders will be looking
ahead to better finishes as the season moves on
hopefully with less impact from the weather.
