Australia (6/17/2011) - GBC Motorsports’
Wes Miller qualified 8th for the start of the Tattersall’s
Finke Desert Race, but Miller moved up the ranks
with an impressive 2nd place finish after the first
230km leg of the race on the Honda TRX 700XX.
Miller described the track as being extremely
rough in section, but his Fox Racing Shox and
700XX independent suspension performed extremely
well through the whoops, which allowed him to
make up time on the competition as he charged
his way through the field to claim the 2nd spot
with a time of 02:39:05, which was nearly 5 minutes
ahead of the third place finisher, Sean Donnelly
on a Yamaha YFZ450R. Chad McKay claimed the Day
One victory with a time of 2:37:40 on a Can-Am
DS450, so Miller has just under a 2 minute gap
to make up on Day 2 on McKay to claim the overall
win.
