Kristen Atwell
Wins Unadilla GNCC Overall
|
Long Beach, CA (9/16/2010) - GBC
Motorsports tops the morning overall and secured
wins in several classes as round ten of the Can
Am GNCC Racing Series cranked up after the summer
break. The morning race would see Kristen Atwell
charge out to an early lead and never look back!
Atwell set the pace and was able to cruise to overall
win and her fifth Women's class win of the season.
This win is huge for Atwell as she is in a fierce
three way battle for the championship.
In the 4x4 classes, Rick Cecco battled for the
lead right from the start but it would take a
lap to get a good race pace going. Cecco took
the lead and rode to the class victory in 4x4
Open, followed closely by fellow GBC racer Zac
Zakowski who would claim the second spot. Scott
Kilby would charge hard and finish second in the
4x4 Limited class. Forrest Whorton would give
maximum efforts aboard his Can Am and would finish
second behind Mike Penland in 45+ Utility Senior
as the pair of racers are engaged in a very tight
points battle.

Pickens Claims a 6th Place Finish |
In the XC1 Pro class, GBC sponsored racers Jeff
Pickens and Johnny Gallagher would face the best
cross country racers in the world as perfect racing
conditions graced the series. With a great mix
of terrain, the competition would be fierce. Pickens
had a great early race charge and would run a
solid race as well as Gallagher who seemed to
have picked up speed near the end of the two hour
event.
Jeff Pickens would bring his GBC equipped Yamaha
in for a 6th place finish, keeping him just inside
the top 10 in points. Gallagher would claim the
9th position when the checkered flag flew as he
put in another solid event. Gallagher sits in
the 6th position in class points and is having
a solid season although we know he wants more!
The series heads to Lafayette, Tennessee on September
25th for the next round of competition. As the
season points now loom, expect the competition
to get even more intense as everyone pushes to
gain valuable points!
