GBC Motorsport’s
ATV Racers Take on the Snow Shoe GNCC
The Snow Shoe GNCC - Round 9 - Snowshoe, WV
- June 26, 2010
Long Beach, CA (7/6/2010) - America's
toughest race is now in the history books and our
GNC racers did their best on some of the most brutal
terrain tackled this season. The Snowshoe Ski resort
would host round nine of the Can AM GNCC Series
and would provide an unusual backdrop for the weekends
events as towering hotels and ski lifts filled the
air as the ATV racing kicked off Saturday morning.
GBC's Kristen Atwell would battle her way to
a fourth place finish after battling severe bottlenecks
and rugged terrain. Atwells points lead will slip
however we have every confidence in her when the
season resumes in September.

Kristen
Atwell battled the hrash terrain of mud,
rock, hills & battlenecks to claim fourth
place overall in her Women's ATV Class |
Rick
Cecco was riding his heart out on his GBC/Can-Am
Outlander ATV until on the 6th lap when
a mechanical issue ended his day |
The 4x4 racers would take a pounding as the elevation
and many obstacles kept their speed in check.
Rick Cecco would put in a solid ride until a faulty
coolant sensor sidelined him, putting him out
of the race after 6 laps. Joining Cecco in the
4x4 ranks would be Scott Kilby in 4x4 Limited
who rode to a second place finish.
The afternoon Pro ATV race would be seated in
controversy as a protest is underway which have
the official results on hold until a ruling is
made. XC1 Pro racers Jeff Pickens and Johnny Gallagher
would finish ninth and tenth respectively after
a grueling race featuring almost 25 mile laps!

the line on the pavement starting area during
the XC1 Pro ATV holeshot |
Jeff
Pickens pushed his GBC Motorsports Yamaha
YFZ450X ATV up & down the steep hills
of Snowshoe to claim 9th place |
The steep and rock filled terrain combined with
the high elevation would have a major impact on
the event causing bottlenecks to play a hand in
the running order and in fact cause the protest.
While the official results have not yet been released,
they should not affect our racers final positions
or points. Confusion set in immediately as Pickens
and Gallagher exited the finish line and began
asking each other what happened. While the results
aren't what our racers wanted, their dedication
and hard work continue to propel GBC Motorsports
and we look forward to seeing what they can offer
when the season begins once again in the fall.

College
A racer Jamie Bithell sits just 8 points
hehind the current leader of his class after
he scored an impressive 2nd place finish
in WV |
College A racer Jamie Bithell would have another
impressive race as he scored a second place finish
in his class. Bithell is in a heated points battle
for the class championship and sits just eight
points behind the current leader.
The GNCC Series will kick back off at The Unadilla
Sports complex in New Berlin, NY September 11th
after the summer break. We hope our racers can
catch some needed time off as they prepare to
assault the final portion of the season.
