Kristen Atwell
collected her third straight win of the
2010 season at The John Penton GNCC
|
Long Beach, CA (6/10/2010) - Kristen
Atwell claimed her third straight win on her GBC
tires at this weekends running of the John Penton
GNCC. Atwell got a solid start and would battle
the entire race, but would be virtually unchallenged
as she raced to the checkered flag. Passing Yamaha's
Dave Simmons after his transmission issues, Atwell
cruised to not only the Women's class victory
but the Morning overall as well!
Atwell now takes command of the Women’s
class points lead and looks ahead to one brutal
round when the series hits the Snowshoe Ski resort
in West Virginia.

Scott Kilby
grabbed the holeshot & his third win
of the sesaon in the 4x4 Limited Class
|
GBC Motorsports’ 4x4 Limited racer, Scott
Kilby, would claim the victory in his class marking
his third win of the season while Zach Zackowski
would battle his way into second place in 4x4
Open class amidst some of the best racing conditions
found thus far this season. Zackowski put his
GBC tires to work and captured his second straight
2nd place finish. Zach now sits just 12 points
behind the class leader.
The conditions would go from favorable to downright
unruly as a severe storm hammered the region just
as the afternoon Pro race was getting underway,
prompting the officials to force a one hour delay.
When the rain stopped, it was GBC's Jeff Pickens
clawing his way to the XC1 Holeshot! Pickens would
run strong but mechanical failure would cut his
day short after the third lap.

Jeff
Pickens put his Yamaha YFZ450X ATV up front
at the holeshot but mechanical problems
ended his day prematurely |
Johnny
Gallagher, despite not being in 100% health,
finished in 9th position overall, battling
the mud and the other Pro racers |
Johnny Gallagher would put his head down and
ride a solid race as well but was battling an
illness from earlier in the week that had him
in the hospital for dehydration. Gallagher would
finish in the 9th position.
GBC racers once again tested themselves and their
tires at another round of the toughest racing
series in the world and came out on top! We look
forward to the next round, June 26th and this
round may just be the toughest of them all as
huge rock gardens will separate those who can
make it to the end!
