Baxter, MN (5/3/2012) - FOX athlete
Chris Borich met new challenges at Park Mammoth
Resort in the fifth round of the 2012 Grand National
Cross Country (GNCC) series but overcame the odds
that the new course presented and topped the pro
ATV podium once again.
A park’s new course had predominately
tight, technical trails that presented few opportunities
to pass. The course also had many rocky sections
that tested racers nerves and the limits of
their suspension. Even with the many challenges
along the way, Borich was able to come out on
top.
“The track really got rough out there,
but it was a lot of fun and my FOX suspension
really helped out, even in the rocky sections,”
Borich said.
As he left the starting line of the two hour
race, Borich knew he would have to play it smart.
He held back for the first lap to get a feel
for the track, but in the second lap he began
to move forward.
Borich moved from fourth to second place by
the end of the second lap and began fighting
for the lead.
“We were really battling it out up front,
but I think I had an advantage with the way
my quad was handling so well,” Borich
said.
Borich is known for his come-from-behind tactics
and waited until the final lap to make his move
for the lead. Just moments from the finish line,
Borich saw the opportunity he was looking for
and made the pass, taking his fourth pro ATV
win of the season.
“I really have to thank FOX for all the
hard work they have done to help me out this
season and help get me to the top of the podium.
Like I said, it was rough out there and I couldn’t
have done it without a great setup,” Borich
said.
Round six of the 2012 GNCC series, the Limestone
100 race, will take place on May 12 in Springville,
Ind.
