Baxter, MN (3/31/2012) - The highly anticipated season opener of the 2012 American Motorcycle Association (AMA) ATV Motocross Championships was nothing short of outstanding for FOX athletes John Natalie Jr., who claimed second on the Pro ATV podium, and Cody Gibson, Casey Martin and Ronnie Higgerson, who swept the Pro-Am Production podium.

The high-speed track at Aonia Pass Motocross Park in Washington, Ga., provided plenty of big jumps and rough conditions that redefined the limits of both riders and their machines in every class, but it was no match for Natalie as he put in an incredible two motos that sent him to the podium.

“The first moto was good. I had a good start and I had moved into second place,” said Can-Am/Motoworks racer Natalie. “During that time, the track started to deteriorate, but my FOX shocks soaked up everything out there, and I was able to hold my position and finish in second.”

Natalie led the entire second moto until the final few seconds when he was edged out at the checkered flag, giving him second overall for the day and an excellent start to the season as he pursues his second consecutive championship.

“We have great support from FOX. They have the best products out there, and they really help us to take it to the next level,” Natalie said.

Fox Joel Hetrick

Natalie’s teammate, Joel Hetrick, looked fast and smooth in the first moto as he challenged for the lead early on, but a mishap sent the young racer off the track and ended moto one early for him. Hetrick rebounded in the second moto and finished in fourth place, taking eighth overall.

“I felt great out there. My FOX suspension worked perfectly. It felt smooth and plush, but it also took all the big jumps,” Hetrick said.

Gibson also smoked his competition in the Pro-Am Unlimited class, winning both motos by more than fifteen seconds and topping the podium once again.

FOX athlete Martin joined Gibson on the Pro-Am Production podium in the number two spot, while fellow FOX-sponsored racer Higgerson rounded out the podium in third.
