Santee, CA (12/11/2010) -
The day was coming and we knew it. It was
a hard job for all the team and still 2 am
on Thursday and finally the quad was ready,
after a lot of hard work and different discussions
about the best components for this race, we
try to sleep at least a few hours.
Thursday in the morning, apparently we were
ready for Baja 1000, at the start line praying
for the quad to start perfectly with no electrics
trouble we begin our adventure at the front
with the dreamed front start.
The run begins at 6:54 am and the SCORE helicopter
above us, telling we were at the front on
a huge race we must do our best, because there
was a lot of hopes on our shoulders, and that’s
what we were meant to do.
As the time passes by, at San Felipe our quad
was like 1 hour ahead the next ATV, and at
Coco`s Corner the time against the next quad
was even better, down going to Vizcaino with
some trouble with gas on the pit, we stop
by on a PEMEX gas to fill up.
The night was coming and after leading the
ATV for 60 miles down to San Ignacio we wait
on a bus station for the next ATV to pass,
and after 1 hr 45 min, the next ATV pass through.
On La purisima the pit was really helpful
because a flat tire. Again on Loreto the tire
and the dust make of their own, the quad was
filled up with oil and air filters changed.
The quad still has a big space between next
ATV and on San Carlos road (Sifon) we need
a new air filter. Going ahead with the run
on Santa Anita (Medano), the quad was already
pass through the worst road parts and we know
our race was against ourselves and we begin
taking care a lot of que ATV, from there to
La Paz the last racer make a huge job, doing
the best time he has done on trainings.
Finally after 23:32 hrs the quad arrive to
the goal and the tears begin on our faces,
we know we make history, we know all our families
were with us, we know that all the hard work
was worth it. We thanks to all the team and
to all the people who believe in us and those
who didn’t we are ready for the next.
