Beckley, WV (4/19/2010)
- During the March 20th Steele Creek GNCC was
involved in a crash very early in the race. At
the time of the crash he new he had an issue but
wanted to finish the race. He limped around for
the next four laps finishing in a 6th place position.
Once the race was over it was discovered that
he had dislocated his shoulder. After popping
it back in place and taking a few days off from
riding he felt as though he was good to go and
could ride through the pain issues.
Going into the April 10th Big Buck GNCC Jerime
was very excited and felt like he and his machine
were ready for a great race. Off the line Jerime
quickly took the lead with the U2 class holeshot.
Unfortunately he soon realized this wasn’t
going to be a banner day. The shoulder just
wouldn’t allow him to turn and move on
his Renegade at race speed.
The tight sections on the track were just about
impossible for him to negotiate on the track.
After clipping a tree he once again dislocated
his shoulder from the impact. Jerime did his
best to finish the race by riding it out, finishing
5th to salvage points.
Shortly after returning home Jerime immediately
consulted an Orthopedic Surgeon. After X-rays
and MRI it was discovered that Jerime has a
fracture of the acromion which is a bone that
is basically an extension of the clavicle. Unfortunately
there really isn’t a typical treatment
for this injury. The treatment is immobilization
of the shoulder until the fracture heals. This
process should take 4 to 6 weeks. During the
MRI it was also discovered that there may be
possible damage to the rotator cuff due to the
dislocations.
Jerime is already looking forward to returning,
and hoping he will only miss 2 GNCC’s.
However he will be attending these events to
support his sponsors and fellow riders. He can
be found at the DWT Racing trailer on vendor
row.
Currently Jerime is 2nd in points even with
the two poor finishes and with the GNCC series
new rule allowing 5 throwaways out of the 13
rounds he is still very confident for the big
picture of the points race.
