DeRisi Racing's
Kylie Ahart placed fourth at Steele Creek
GNCC in the Women's ATV Class

Casar, NC (4/4/2012) - For Round
3 of the GNCC series, the DeRisi Racing crew made
the short 1-hour drive to Steele Creek Campground
in Morganton, NC. Much needed rain would fall on
Friday night and into Saturday morning, making for
perfect track conditions. The first of the DeRisi
team to hit the track would be Kylie Ahart, racing
the Women’s Pro class. Kylie got off to a
great start and battled for the lead the entire
race, eventually finishing in the 4th position.
She showed her competitors that she has the speed
to run up front and is sure to be a championship
contender as she sits third in points.

During the two weeks since the last round, changes
were made to the DeRisi Hondas in hopes of improving
upon the results from Round 2. When the flag waved
on the XC2 class, it was evident that the changes
were effective as Eric Hoyland blasted off of
the line and into the lead by the second turn.
Eric quickly pulled away from the others and held
a comfortable lead for most of the race. With
less than a half mile from the finish, Eric would
tangle with a tree and fall back to finish 3rd.
Braden Henthorn rode a smart race and held the
third position for much of the race. He would
make a pass on the last lap to move into second,
and would ultimately take advantage of Eric’s
misfortune by taking the win. This was the first
win for the XC2 rookie and he described the feeling
with one simple word, “awesome”

Bryan Cook
returned to race his first 2012 GNCC Race
on his DeRisi Racing Honda 450R ATV

Bryan Cook made his return to GNCC racing aboard
his DeRisi backed Honda for Round 3. Bryan was
excited to go out and battle in the XC1 Pro class
once again. He got off to a great start, but some
minor issues with the quad would cause him to
drop some positions on the first lap. Bryan would
ride a steady pace and finish the day out with
an 11th place finish. Brycen Neal took advantage
of his DC Cycle engine and nailed an excellent
start, setting himself up for a tough four rider
battle in the College A class. Brycen lost his
rear brakes early in the race, which put him at
a huge disadvantage on very hilly track. He never
gave up, however, and fought all the way to the
end to finish 4th. In Junior A, David Reeves had
to recover from a poor start and picked his way
through the field. He charged all the way to the
3rd spot, but ran out of time to advance any further.
David now sits 2nd in points. James Reeves continued
to improve upon his results and rode a solid race
to finish 5th. James is now 5th in points in Junior
A.
“It’s amazing to see all of the hard
work beginning to pay off,” said Santo DeRisi.
“All of our riders are hungry for great
results and that is definitely showing. We are
continuing to make improvements to the quads each
race, and that is making it easier for the riders
to do their best.”
