Rick Cecco Fifth at Big Buck GNCC
GNCC Pro 4x4 Racer Rick Cecco

Shermansdale, PA (4/16/2014) -After the torrential downpours and mud-covered-everything at Steele Creek, the weather in Union, South Carolina this weekend was a breath of fresh air, literally, with plenty of sun and temperatures ranging in the high seventies. Big Buck is a track offering all the obstacles GNCC riders are so familiar with, hill climbs, creek crossings and rocks. The tricky part with this particular track, however, is that as the race goes on, riders must begin to compensate for sections of the course that become incredibly rough and fast.  This track truly tests a riders’ skill level in requiring participants to ride smart AND fast.  The 4x4 Pro riders are certainly up for the challenge, as always, and waste no time in getting round four started.

Rick Cecco grabbed another top five finish at the Big Buck GNCC on his Polaris Scrambler XP 850. Cecco currently sits fourth in the GNCC Racing 4x4 Pro Points

Seconds after the green flag is dropped, the 4X4 Pros battle for the leading position. At this point in the season, the championship is still within reach for all and everyone wants it.  Heading into the woods, Rick Cecco secured the fourth place position with only feet between himself and riders one, two and three.  Through lap one, Cecco kept his sights on leading position, checking in less than five seconds behind the leader.   Laps two and three didn’t disappoint either, with the top four riders’ bumper- to-bumper and only seconds between each other. By lap three, Cecco had dropped into the fifth position with a twenty second gap between himself and the winning position. With such a competitive class, every second counts and unfortunately, lappers often cost positions.

For Cecco, Big Buck was no exception.   With the white flag, and a lot of determination, Cecco managed to make up enough ground to finish in fifth, less than fifty-nine seconds behind the leader and 7 seconds behind 4th.  Such a tight race thru out the 4 laps is unheard of however the sweet unmistakable sound of the engines roaring as the freight train of the top 5 4x4 Pro riders finished each lap had the fans going wild.

With his head held high, Cecco remarked, “Fifth isn’t ideal, but I feel more confident than ever.  We made some changes to the Polaris Scrambler and I was really happy with its performance today. A few more tweaks and I plan to be back on the box in Indiana.”  Watch out GNCC fans, the 4x4 Pro riders are making history with this season’s epic battle!
