Shermansdale, PA (10/3/2011)
- Cecco Racing’s Rick Cecco made his return
to the 2011 GNCC series for rounds number ten
and eleven after taking a short break to spend
time with his family. Despite his two round absence,
Cecco finished in the top five in the 4x4 Open
class in both rounds.
After testing and training during his off time,
Rick Cecco was hoping to come back strong at
round ten at Unadilla and was looking good as
he was keeping up with the front runners, but
a mechanical failure would set him back. Cecco
was still able to continue racing despite the
issue and rounded out the top five in his class.
Cecco was hoping for better results at Mountain
Ridge’s round eleven in him home state
of Pennsylvania. Cecco was looking good off
the start and had moved from fifth into fourth
place. Cecco was pacing himself and trying his
best to survive in the tough rocky conditions
that claimed many victims over the course of
the race. Cecco held on and was able to claim
a fourth place finish at the end of the day,
even after suffering a mechanical issue due
to the rough terrain.
“In the last two races we suffered two
separate parts failures that I have never encountered
before. It is unfortunate, but that is where
we are right now,” stated Rick Cecco,
who is accustomed to finishing within the top
three of his class.
“The competition has been intense this
year and the front runners are leaving no room
for mistakes or mechanical issues to get in
the way. You absolutely have to be on top of
your game out there,” Cecco added.
Round number twelve of the 2011 GNCC series
will be heading to Power Line Park in St. Clairsville,
OH on October 8th, where Rick Cecco took the
4x4 Open win last year and is looking to top
his class podium once again and shake up the
points standings before the end of the season
in November at Loretta Lynn’s.
