at the River Ranch GNCC Season Opener

Shermansdale, PA (3/17/2011)
- Rounds one and two of the 2011 GNCC series held
plenty of excitement for Cecco Racing's Rick Cecco
as he came on strong at round one, taking a strong
second in the 4x4 Open class.
The sandy soils of Florida
were good to Cecco as he got
off to a good start and
charged is way up from a
third place start to claim
second in his class. His
strong performance also
allowed him to take a
respectable sixth place
overall in the morning
classes.
“Florida went well for me. At the end
of the day we brought home some valuable championship
points,” said Cecco. After a successful
round in Florida, and only one short week to
rest up and get ready, Cecco headed to Aonia
Pass in Georgia for “The General”
where instead of sand, thick heavy mud was the
name of the game for round number two of the
2011 GNCC series.
At the start of the race, Cecco was in fifth
place going into the woods in the first lap
and was gaining ground. Cecco quickly picked
off the competition and worked into the number
three spot and began to hunt down second place.
With only two laps left in the race, Cecco was
closing in on second, but then suddenly, he
snapped the rear pinion gear in his differential
only a few miles into lap four. “"My
Powerbar/G-Force Can-Am Outlander ran great
today. I struggled getting up thru the pack
from a poor start while Michael Swift and Bryan
Buckhannon pulled away while having there own
battle. Once I passed up thru 4th & 3rd
I was able to get back up to leaders pace and
I was sure to see 2nd soon and just then my
rear differential snapped and I was out with
only front wheel drive. I tried to keep going
but the track was too knarly to make it thru
some of the sections,” Cecco explained.
Unfortunately, Cecco's race ended early at round
two, but the set back has given him
even more determination to come out on top at
round three. “This week we are going to
work on our starts so that we can move right
to the front and stay there,” said Cecco.
Round three of the GNCC series will have Rick
Cecco traveling to Morganton, NC on
March 26th at Steel City where Cecco will be
going for the win.
