Powerbar's
#399 Rick Cecco grabbed 3rd place at
the mud filled Mountain Ridge GNCC in
Somerset, PA

Shermansdale, PA (6/1/2010) -
One of the toughest tracks of the year could not
stop Cecco Racing’s Rick Cecco from making
his way to the podium at round number seven of
the 2010 GNCC series.
The Mountain Ridge course in Somerset, Pa has
always had the reputation as a tough track,
but this year seemed particularly brutal with
big rocks and rough terrain that was nearly
impassable in some sections.
Cecco would get off to a good start and was
in second as the 4x4 Open class headed into
the woods. Cecco would battle back and forth
with Brian Buckhannon and Zack Zakowski for
most of the race, swapping positions several
times before the last lap when disaster struck.
While crossing a stream that Cecco had cleared
with ease in prior laps the stream had become
deeper and more hazardous with large loose rocks
at the bottom.

Rick Cecco
got highsided in a creek crossing and
lost valuable time on the rest of the
pack but still put on a hard charge
after the incident to claim a superb
3rd place overall on the day!
|
Cecco would get high centered on one of those rocks and would be forced to dismount
and get down and dirty in the mud and water after
trying several times using the traditional methods
of getting unstuck by picking up on the bumper
or grab bar. “I was lying on my back in
the water, which was about a foot and a half deep,
while keeping my head above water I pushed my
quad up and out with my legs and finally I got
the quad free and kept going” said Cecco.
Cecco’s unfortunate incident would put
him back into third place, but his “Can’t
stop – won’t stop” attitude
was still good enough to give him a solid overall
podium in third place at the end of the day.
