#399 Rick Cecco
|
Shermansdale, PA (5/11/2010)
- The heat and dust at round six of the 2010 GNCC
series caused problems for many racers, but Cecco
Racing’s Rick Cecco overcame those obstacles
to claim a solid second in the 4x4 Open class.
Cecco got off to a great start, taking an
early lead as racers headed into the woods.
Cecco would pace himself and held his lead for
four miles before dropping back to second. While
in second the heat and the dust started to become
a factor and interfered with proper breathing
and visibility, but Cecco pressed on and scored
his fastest lap time in the third lap with a
time of 28:32.172.

As the race continued, Cecco would catch up
to leader Bryan Buckhannon, but bottlenecks
and lap traffic became an issue in the final
lap and despite a hard charge, Cecco was not
able to close in enough to make a move for the
lead. Cecco would finish his day in a close
second place. “The dust in the fields
got pretty bad and if you were following someone,
it actually made it hard to breathe and I started
to get sick because of that,” stated Cecco,
who is holding down third in the points chase.
Cecco should have an advantage in the next round
as it will be held in his home state of Pennsylvania.
“I need to get some more wins so I will
be training hard. I’m really looking forward
to the next round as it is close to home for me,”
said Cecco.
Round seven of the 2010 GNCC series will be
held on May 22nd in Somerset, PA. This race
marks the mid-way point in the series and Rick
Cecco will be giving it his all as he makes
a charge against the competition for the 4x4
Open class win.
