Jerime Dudding
has been working hard to make sure that
his Can-am Renegade 800R is ready to go
|
Millfield, OH (6/12/2009) -We
have been working very hard with setup to make
my Can-am Renegade 800R handle perfectly. I couldn’t
wait to test our adjustments under race conditions.
Over the last several weeks I began running the
stock Can-am Renegade X XC KYB shocks. I worked
with HYGEAR Suspension and with some spring changes
and revalve Ross from Hygear made the stock shocks
incredible. I can’t really explain how much
confidence I gained by having these shocks on
my Can-am. Thank you Hygear and thank you to BRP
for making such an awesome shock standard on the
X XC. www.hygearsuspension.com
The combination of the shocks, the new Dynamic
Power Steering, the front sway bar, and all of
Bopp Race Components hard work I knew I had a
combination that would be hard to beat.
Arriving at the track on Friday we quickly decided
that the track conditions would vary widely from
extremely muddy to hard pack on the MX track.
Once we found a pit well actually we drove until
we got stuck and decided that would be our pit.
The fields were slightly muddy to say the least.
We walked a few miles of the track and headed
to sign up.
Before long we were getting dinner and trying
our best to get to sleep early.
Saturday morning was there before we knew it
and the U2 class was at the front again. To say
that an overall podium was in the back of my mind
would have been an understatement.
Up to that very moment my race weekend had been
just about perfect. Unfortunately it went down
hill from there. I went to put on my Fly gloves
and realized I had 2 left handed gloves…..
OOPS. I quickly scambled to send for another set,
unfortunately the National Anthem was playing
and we had seconds to start. Out of know where
my mechanic, friend, and fellow racer Charlie
Johnson’s wife came running up to me with
a pair of gloves. I literally got them on in time
to hear 10 SECONDSSSSSS!
I didn’t find out till later he actually
took them off to give them to me. What an awesome
guy!!!
Ok back to the race- Flag drops we are going
to the first turn and Benson gets a wheel on me
and we tangle. At that same moment another rider
hits me from behind and our quads lock together
and wouldn’t come apart.
We set there for over a minute trying to free
our atv’s from each other with no luck.
Finally I just jumped on mine and held the throttle
wide open until they broke free. At that point
I knew my race day had a major set back. There
is not a worse time to loose ground on the leaders
than at the start.

Jerime finished
2nd in class and 5th overall for the day

Well I was on a mission. By the end of the first
lap I had passed my way back up to 5th and had
no intention of settling there. This race was
a mess with bottle necks. I would pass someone
and then 2 miles later I would pass the same person
again yet they would never pass me.
Fortunately my Renegade is a beast and bottlenecks
aren’t usually an issue. I just have to
grab plenty of throttle and let my SUPER GRIP
tires go to work usually that’s all it takes.
Another handy feature that I put to good use on
Saturday was my Rath Racing bumper. I pushed so
many people through mud holes and up hills. I
don’t know how it made it through the race.
Not only did it make it but it worked wonders
in protecting my radiator.
One other sponsor I would like to mention that
I never talk about is Powermadd. Their hand guards
are awesome and make any quad look better. Most
of you know them for their guards and wraps, but
the best product they make is the GAUNTLET or
elephant ears as I call them. These mud guards
work together with the Star series hand guard
to give you incredible mud/water protection. Everyone
gives me a hard time about them because they really
are as big as elephant ears, but use them once
and you won’t go back to anything else.
At the end of a race my gloves still look brand
new. My ADVICE: gets some before Snow Shoe!
At any rate when the dust and mud settled I had
ended up 2nd in class and 5th overall. I was definitely
a little disappointed not to have the win, but
it definitely could have been much worse.
Thanks to all my sponsors as usual, my quad keeps
getting better because of you guys. A special
thanks to the two people on the track who were
kind enough to give me fuel, I ran out on the
last lap.
See yall’ up on the mountain in a few weeks….
