Ogden, IA (4/26/2012) - After a
rough start to the 2012 season, the CR21 Can-Am
Team is back atop the podium. This weekend, fans
saw fill-in rider Zach Harris pilot the Can-Am DS450
to 4 Overalls by virtue of 8 moto wins at the first
and second rounds of the District 22 Motocross Series
in New Hartford, IA. Harris is replacing the injured
Cam Reimers after he sustained a broken Tibia and
Fibula at the opening round of the AMA ATV Motocross
Championships in Georgia. Reimers was set to compete
throughout the Midwest for Team Can-Am this year,
but after the injury, his roll quickly changed from
rider to team manager.

After training months in Florida
Cam Reimers had an unfortunate accident
in which he broke his Tibia and Fibula.
This accident would ground him from racing
until healed. Reimers looked to his friend
Zach Harris to fill his spot on the CR21

When asked about the disappointing start to the
year, Reimers had this to say: “I was really
excited coming into the 2012 Season. I had a solid
several months of training in Florida and I was
absolutely prepared. I had an excellent program
set up with Can-Am and my speed, fitness, and
bikes were all at a level they have never been
at before. I knew it was going to be crucial for
me to stay healthy this year because I had a lot
of events on my schedule, I just didn’t
think I would be sidelined after the first one.
It’s unfortunate that it had to happen this
way, but it was a racing incident and out of my
control. We all know the risks we are taking when
we line up on the gate and sometimes those risks
have harsh consequences.”
Only a few days after being release from the
hospital, Reimers began his search for a fill-in
rider. “I immediately knew who I wanted
to ride for me,” said Reimers, “so
I called up Illinois rider, Zach Harris. I have
known Zach for a few years now and really like
his hard charging attitude and will to win. He
seemed like a perfect fit on the team.”

“I was excited when Cam called and asked
me to be a replacement rider for the CR21 Can-Am
Team,” said Zach. “Any chance you
get to work with a factory involved effort on
a regional or national level is opportunity that
you do not want to pass up. I have been friends
with Cam for years and fully support the program
he has going.”
After Zach signed his deal, the first two rounds
were less than a week away. The travel distance
between the two colleagues added with the rainy
spring weather left the team without much preparation
coming into the first and second rounds. But you
would have never guessed that if you were out
at New Hartford Motocross Park last weekend. Harris
ripped all 8 holeshots throughout the weekend
in the premier classes (Quad A, Quad A Production)
and sprinted his way to victory in every one of
them.

“I really didn’t have any time on the
bikes before this weekend,” said Harris. “We
were supposed to get some testing in Friday before
the race but the weather had other plans. The first
time I rode the Can-Am was race day. The DS450 was
a super rider friendly bike and very easy to make
the transition to. The handling and power were great
and the bike was very predictable which made it
easy to push your limits.”
Although Harris will be riding for all of the
companies that were originally contracted with
Reimers, he did bring a very fun outside sponsor
to the table. Freshletes Clothing will now be
an official sponsor of the CR21 Can-Am Team for
2012. “Freshletes originally comes from
the music industry but decided to jump on board
with our program and venture into the land of
ATV Motocross. It’s very exciting to see
new companies come in and help us out as much
as they have,” said Reimers.
Harris will compete for the CR21 Can-Am team
indefinitely until Cam Reimers is healthy enough
to make his return. “It’s a little
bittersweet walking out to the shop and seeing
your bikes without the #21 plates on them,”
said Reimers. “But after a weekend as successful
as this one, I am just glad to still be at the
track having fun and representing all of the companies
that support me. I have to give a shout out to
all of the people that make it possible: Can-Am,
Hicklin Powersports, Motoworks, DWT, SSi Decals,
Fly Racing, Jett Boots, CheapTearoffs.com, CTO
Goggles, Freshletes Clothing, Rath Racing, TiLube,
Precision, Fox Racing Shox, K&N Filters, CR21
Performance, BCS Performance, L16 Films, Thede
Photography, and ATVRiders.com.”
