Pro Rookie Chase Snapp took second overall
at Spring Creek MX |
Tulsa, OK (7/4//2011) - Chase Snapp
charged to his first AMA ATV Motocross Championship
pro moto win and claimed his best overall finish
of the season in second on the pro podium at round
eight in Millfield, OH this past weekend.
Weather conditions were less than ideal as the
Oklahoma native lined up for moto one. With rain
falling and saturating the track, Snapp knew a
good start was vital if he was to have a shot
at the podium; and he wasted no time in making
that happen.
Snapp flew off the line, as the gate dropped
for moto one, and was in a close second, right
behind Josh Upperman. Snapp stayed close and was
able to take the lead early in the first lap,
when Upperman made a mistake. Once out front the
rookie pro began to pull away. Snapp increased
his lead over the competition with every lap and
took the moto one win almost 14 seconds ahead
of second place. “It was a really great
feeling to take that win and I hope I can do it
again before the season is over,” stated
Snapp.

Track conditions improved for moto two as the
rain stopped and the track began to dry out slightly.
As the gate dropped for moto two, Snapp found
himself in mid-pack off the line and put down
the hammer, making his way into fifth by the second
turn as he tried to go for another moto win. Snapp
made his way up to second, but soon came under
attack from Jeremy Lawson and then Thomas Brown.
“Upperman was pretty far out front and I
knew I was going to be in second overall so I
just tried to ride smart,” said Snapp, who
would eventually end moto two in fourth place,
but take second overall on the pro podium.

currently sits fifth in the AMA ATV MX Pro
Points |
Snapp has been consistently improving his results
with each and every race and his determination
and desire to win has also allowed him to reach
the top five in the points championship, which
is quite an accomplishment for a first year pro
racer. “When I started out the season, my
goal was to be in the top five consistently, now
my goal is an overall win,” said Snapp,
who could easily move into fourth in points before
the season ends.
Round number nine of the 2011 AMA ATV Motocross
Championships will head to Unadilla in New Berlin,
NY on July 16th where Chase Snapp will not only
be going for the podium, but also will be chasing
his first overall series pro victory.
