Tulsa, OK (5/24/2011) – Can-Am’s
Chase Snapp took his best finish of the season so
far as he charged his way to the podium at round
number six of the 2011 AMA ATV Motocross Championships.
Steel City was the hosting facility for the weekend’s
events. Good track conditions were on hand for
the morning motos but things got a little rough
later in the day, but it didn’t stop Chase
Snapp from reaching his goal of a Pro ATV podium
finish.
After an intense battle with Thomas Brown at
round five, things seemed to pick up right where
they left off for round six. Snapp was in fifth
off the start behind Brown and immediately went
to work challenging for fourth. Snapp was able
to make his way around Brown early in the moto,
but Brown would not back down and the two racers
swapped positions several times before Snapp made
it stick. Once ahead of Brown, Snapp began to
pursue Josh Upperman, but got a big surprise when
Upperman crashed right in front of him. “I
was in the air and he crashed right in front of
me. I thought I was going to land on him,”
explained Snapp, who used some creative tactics
to avoid Upperman and keep from wrecking himself.
Upperman’s wreck allowed Snapp to move
into the number three spot in the ninth lap. In
the very next lap, John Natalie who was in second,
would also crash, giving Snapp the number two
spot. “I was a little nervous when I got
into second, but I just tried to keep my head
down and ride smart so I could hang on to the
position,” said Snapp who took it all the
way to the moto one checkered flag.

In the second moto, Snapp again came off the
line in fifth, but got pinched out on the start
and fell back. Snapp was able to reclaim a couple
of spots but fell back to seventh before crossing
the finish line. However, Snapp’s earlier
performance put him in third overall, allowing
him to take his first-ever pro podium finish.
“I am so excited to be on the podium. I
have been working really hard to be up here and
it has finally paid off. I have to thank all of
my sponsors for all of their support and helping
me make it to the podium,” said Snapp.
When Snapp started out the season, his main goal
was to have at least one podium finish before
the end of the year and now he has achieved that
goal and will be carrying his new found confidence
to round seven of the AMA ATV Motocross Championships
in Millville, MN on June 4th – 5th where
Snapp will be looking to back up his round six
performance with another trip to the podium.
