                                ATV Racing - Round 4 - Union, SC - April 14, 2012

Oakland, KY (4/24/2012) - The Ballance
Racing / Yamaha team was back to racing action at
Big Buck GNCC, round 4. The track crew did extensive
work on the course, adding new sections and sections
not run in previous years to add excitement for
this race. The track included open fields, tight
rocky pines, a few small creek crossings, and a
new hillclimb only opened for the afternoon race.
After the team inspected the course, the riders
felt very confident about a good weekend.

/ Yamaha's Taylor Kiser currently sits
fifth in the GNCC XC1 Pro ATV Points after
                                        round 4 |
Ballance Racing/Yamaha's #3 Taylor Kiser was quick
off the start, grabbing the $250 Motosport.com holeshot
award. "With the dusty conditions, I knew a
good start would be key to this race. The YFZ450R
never hesitated to start and I was able to grab
the holeshot and enter the woods 1st." Shortly
after, Kiser saw a good surprise behind him. "In
the first open section I looked over my shoulder
and saw my teammate Walker Fowler behind me. Im
comfortable riding with him and usually that means
we can set a fast pace right from the get-go. I
focused on pulling away in the dust and gapping
the rest of the field." Shortly after the end
of the first lap, disaster struck. " I had
put 20 seconds on everyone and after the 1 Mile
mark and thats where my race ended. We'll head back
to Kentucky and get these issues squared away. No
one said winning this championship would be easy
but I'm still gunning for it!" Kiser ended
                              the day in 15th

Ballance Racing/Yamaha's #5 Walker Fowler also had
high hopes for the day and positioned himself to
do so with another excellent start. "I knew
the dust was going to be bad so I didn't want to
be in the back of the pack eating it. I focused
on a good jump and ended up 2nd into the woods behind
teammate Taylor Kiser." Once on the trail,
Fowler was feeling good and ready to stay at the
front of the pack. "When Taylor looked back
and gave me a thumbs up I was ready to do whatever
it took to keep my YFZ450R at the front. I knew
I had to stay on his rear tires in the dust so I
could see. I was able to do so until I made a mistake
and stalled the engine. In the dust, I dropped back
enough to see but stay pretty close in case Taylor
made an error." Luck was not on the team's
side this weekend as Fowler also ran into mechanical
failure. "We didn't change anything for this
race. I must have used up all my luck last season.
This weekend just went all wrong but I know the
crew will get to the bottom of it and at round 5
there will be a bunch of BLUE on the podium!"
Fowler ended the day in 16th

GNCC racing will resume for the Ballance Racing/Yamaha

and support the boys in blue as they tackle the
woods that produced the legend 9-time GNCC Champion
Bill Ballance! We'll see you there!
