Ballance Racing's Taylor Kiser Places Second at Ironman GNCC
GNCC ATV Racing - Round 12 - Crawfordsville, IN - October 22, 2011

Ballance Racing Yamaha's Taylor Kiser

Despite getting tangled up in the XC1 Pro Class Holeshot Ballance Racing Yamaha's Taylor Kiser worked his way up from the back of the back to take an impressive second place finish!

Oakland, KY (10/27/2011) - The Ballance Racing/Yamaha Team was back in action this weekend at the 2nd annual PINK Ironman GNCC held in Crawfordsville, IN. Pink was the weekend's color and theme in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Racers and fans alike were encouraged to wear pink, use pink decals, and plaster pink duct-tape on whatever they could find in honor of all of those affected by breast cancer or any cancer for that matter. The Ballance crew inspected the 12.5 mile Ironman course Friday afternoon to find the typical conditions of this track. This being fast field sections, many passing opportunities in the wooded sections, several deep river crossings followed by big mud bogs, and the crowd favorite “Ironman Hill” would make its return for this years event. With the XC1 Pro championship still up for grabs and the top 5 still in contention to swap positions, it was bound to be another thrilling Ironman GNCC!

In the premiere XC1 Pro class, Ballance Racing/Yamaha’s Taylor Kiser sporting the Breast Cancer Awareness pink and white #2’s, was ready to prove that he is still a contender for overall victories this season. Taylor’s attitude was noticeably different at the track; it was evident that he was feeling confident about the race. Things got of to a rough start for Mr. Kiser, though. “I got a good jump off of the line and was on my way to at least a top three start. As I came close to the first corner I was bumped from behind and flipped over! This made for quite the interesting day! I was able to charge hard in the first few miles and make up the majority of the spots I had lost.” Not letting the mishap ruin his day, TK pushed hard and proved he had worked hard since the last two races. “By the end of the second lap I had worked my way into third. My bike was working awesome and things were finally starting to click a little bit for me. I took the lead on the third lap and was feeling great, but as we battled for positions on the last lap I was overtaken and had to settle for second.” This 2nd place finish was enough to bump Taylor back into 3rd place in the XC1 Pro standings, overtaking Warnert Racing/Can-Am’s Chris Bithell. “Overall, it was a great day! My bike worked awesome and the entire team did a great job. I have gained a little confidence and I and really looking forward to getting out and racing again at the final round in two weeks!”

In the XC2 Pro-Am division, Ballance Racing/Yamaha’s Walker Fowler was also running some special green and pink #1’s supporting Breast Cancer Awareness and also commemorating his 2011 XC2 Pro-Am Championship. Fowler was looking to better his 11 for 11 record and continue his undefeated streak with his 12th straight class victory. “I really like this track and I wanted to get a holeshot and break away from the rest of the field early so I could have room for error if I made any. I got a solid 3rd place start and was able to take the lead about a mile in and just started riding my own race.” Walker was actually in the 1st Overall position at the end of two laps, but was unable to stay there. “I was really excited to be in contention for another overall victory early in the race, but the lead pack of XC1 Pro’s really stepped up the pace and I ran into some issues.” Fowler didn’t let these issues spoil his undefeated streak, though, and clinched his 12th straight XC2 Pro-Am victory. “At the end of the day, overall wins mean nothing this year other than knowing I have the speed for next year. I have to focus on my main goal the last race and that is making this a 13 for 13 season! That is what is going to mean the most to me and the rest of the team! The bike was running awesome and this 12th win feels really good!

Ballance Racing would also like to congratulate Cody Collier for his 3rd place finish in the 90cc Open 12-15 class aboard the Ballance Racing Yamaha Raptor125. Cody was only 25 seconds out of the class victory, which he battled for all morning. At this seasons John Penton GNCC, Cody was able to win the overall on the Raptor125 so we all know this kid has what it takes to be victorious! Watch out for this young rider next season folks!

Next up for the Ballance Racing/Yamaha Team will be the 13th and final round of GNCC Racing held at the Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. This event was scheduled to be round 5 of the series, but was postponed due to inclement weather. Come join us for the last exciting event of the GNCC series, we’ll see you there!
