Yamaha's Thomas Brown made his way threw
the mud to place third in the first moto
and seventh in the second moto placing
him fifth overall at Budds Creek MX

Oakland, KY (4/20/2011) - With
the clouds moving in and the rain falling at Budds
Creek last weekend, there was a ray of sunshine
for Ballance Racing YAMAHA rider Thomas Brown.
When the gate dropped for the first pro moto
Saturday, the track conditions could only be described
as sloppy at best. Thomas would emerge from the
first corner in a solid 5th place and within the
first few corners put his YFZ450R in to the 3rd
position. "I had a good start, but when I
got to the first corner I pushed a little wide
and got into the deep stuff. After that I made
a couple quick passes and just focused on keeping
a good gap on the riders behind me", stated
Thomas.
At the start of moto #2, Thomas found himself
a little deeper in the pack after the first turn,
settling into 7th. Although the track crew did
a spectacular job prepping the track between moto's,
it was still very one lined and nearly impossible
to pass. With a 3rd in moto one and a 7th in moto
2, Thomas would finish the day 5th overall.
"I feel good with the overall result, considering
the circumstances. I think we had the right set
up for the mud and our motor was strong and reliable
this weekend. I stumbled coming off the gate in
the second moto and I'm sure that cost us a podium.
Moto-Xperts does a great job for us and it is
unfortunate that some issues unrelated to their
work has caused us to have some problems this
year, but we have that behind us now and I'm ready
to get us the results this team and our sponsors
deserve".
Ballance Racing has regrouped back at the race
shop and will take full advantage of this off
weekend to get their YFZ450's ready for the upcoming
races. Taylor Kiser and Walker Fowler will be
back in the woods at Loretta's in two weeks and
Thomas Brown will be back on the track at Sunset
Ridge in 3 weeks.
