Baldwin Motorsports' Josh Upperman grabbed
the SSi Decals AMA ATV MX Pro Holeshot
Award |
North Kingsville, OH (6/19/2012)
- Baldwin Motorsport’s Josh
Upperman has remained consistent in rounds five
and six of the 2012 AMA ATV Motocross Championships,
finishing within the to five at both rounds.
The night race for round five at Ballance MotoX
presented its own set of challenges, but Josh
Upperman was looking strong as he finished third
in the first moto and took fourth in the second
for a solid fourth overall. “The night
race was different, but it was a lot of fun
racing under the lights in the second moto,”
said Upperman.
Round six at High Point Raceway was a bit more
challenging but Josh Upperman made one of the
most impressive charges of the race in the first
moto. “Chad Wienen and I were out front
and coming into the first turn really hot off
the start and neither one of us wanted to let
up so we got together. We both had to jump off
the quads and pull them apart and that put me
way in the back,” Upperman explained.

Once he was back on his machine, Josh Upperman
put his head down and began picking off the
competition. Upperman kept his focus and by
the midway point had worked his way up to sixth
place and was gunning for fifth. Upperman applied
the pressure and made his way into the number
five spot and held it for four more laps before
crossing the finish line.
The track at High Point was dustier than usual
for this round and caused some visibility issues
for moto two. “There was a lot of dust
on the faces of some of the jumps and you just
had to be really careful. I went out there and
did the best I could and I was able to finish
in fourth for moto two and take fourth overall,”
said Upperman, who is currently fourth in pro
points and closing in on third.
“I want to give a big thanks to Baldwin
Motorsports, PEP, Maxxis Tires, all of our sponsors
and everyone who is a part of our program. If
it weren’t for them, I don’t think
I would be able to go racing,” Upperman
added.
Last season, Josh Upperman took the overall
win at Sunday Creek in Millfield, OH and he
is looking forward to returning there for round
seven. “The dirt there is real similar
to what we have at home, so I think that gives
me a bit of an advantage there. I won there
last year, so I am hoping to be back on the
box for this next round,” said Upperman.
Round seven of the 2012 AMA ATV Motocross Championships
will head to Sunday Creek MX in Millfield, OH
on June 30th – July 1st.
