Baldwin Motorsports' #20 Josh Upperman
took another podium finish placing third
at Sunset Ridge MX |
North Kingsville, OH (5/10/2011)
- Consistency has been the name
of the game for Baldwin Motorsport’s Josh
Upperman this season and round five of the 2011
AMA ATV Motocross Championships was no exception
as Upperman charged hard and claimed the number
three spot on the podium.
Sunset Ridge was the hosting facility where
the track conditions were favorable, allowing
Upperman to get a decent start, in fourth place,
and run a clean and consistent moto while the
rest of the pack was battling it out behind
him in moto one. Upperman created a comfortable
14 second gap between him and fifth place and
rode unchallenged for the entire moto to finish
in fourth place.

Josh Upperman's consistent riding has
earned him third place in the points race
in the ATV Pro class |
In moto two, Upperman was in second off the
start and had his hands full as Chad Wienen
and John Natalie were right behind him and ready
to battle. Upperman held on for several laps
before falling back to fourth, but was able
to move back into third when John Natalie encountered
a mechanical issue. Upperman’s 4-3 finishes
allowed him to take the final spot on the podium.
“Being up here again is good feeling.
I have to thank Mark Baldwin and Wayne Meridian
for everything. They have done a great job and
I am really happy to be up on the podium again
for them,” stated Upperman.
Josh Upperman is the only Pro Production class
racer that has consistently finished within
the top five at every round, which has enabled
him to retain third in the points championship
at the midway point of the season.
“Consistency certainly pays off. I have
been involved with riders in the past that never
won a round but took the championship because
of their consistency, so we are hoping that
Josh can keep his momentum going. This has been
a great season for us so far and we are really
excited about going to Steel City. We love that
track and Josh has been training hard so he
should do well there and we are looking forward
to seeing him on the podium again,” stated
Mark Baldwin.
Round number six heads to Delmont, PA on May
21st – 22nd where Josh Upperman and Baldwin
Motorsports are hoping for their first victory
of the season in order to further Upperman’s
progress in the championship points chase.
