Baldwin Motorsports' #20 Josh Upperman
leading the pack after taking Moto 1 Holeshot |
North Kingsville, OH (4/6/2011)
- Baldwin Motorsport’s Josh
Upperman continued his role as the “Holeshot
King” at Round three of the 2011 AMA ATV
Motocross Championships this past weekend at Ballance
MX in Bowling Green, KY.
Josh Upperman, who has become known for his
amazing starts did not disappoint as he charged
off the line in moto one and grabbed the holeshot.
Upperman led for four laps before John Natalie
caught up with him. “I got a great start
and I was trying to build a good lead, but John
caught up with me and he was able to get under
me in a corner,” explained Upperman, who
would eventually finish in third after battling
it out with Chad Wienen as well.

Josh Upperman also took Moto 2 holeshot
and finished fourth just shy of a podium
finish at round 3 |
In moto two, Upperman again shot off the line
with incredible speed to take his second holeshot
of the day. Upperman was soon under fire again
from John Natalie and held down a solid second
for several laps before ending his moto in fourth
place. Upperman’s 3-4 finishes gave him
fourth place overall but he is still holding
down third place in the pro points race with
116 points.
“I had a good start again in the second
moto, but I started getting a little out of
control trying to hold off Wienen and Lawson,
so I decided to play it smart and just back
off a bit and hang in there for as many points
as possible. I’m in third, so I really
didn’t want to take the chance of getting
injured and possibly ending my season,”
said Upperman, who is looking for a little redemption
at Budds Creek in two weeks and plans to be
back on the podium.

place in the points race after round 3
at Ballance MX |
“Overall it was a good weekend, but next
round I want to be back on the podium. I have
to thank Mark Baldwin and Baldwin Motorsports
for all of their hard work. They built an excellent
quad for me, now I just have to take it to the
podium,” said Upperman.
Round three of the AMA ATV Motocross Championships
heads to Budds Creek in Maryland on April 16th
– 17th where Josh Upperman will be going
for the holeshot and hopefully bring Baldwin
Motorsports their first pro win of the season.
