2009 ATVA Extreme Dirt Track Racing
Season Set to Begin
May 30, 2009 - Ava, MO - Ozark
Mountain ATV Raceway
Ava, MO (5/25/2009)
- Round number one of the six round, 2009 Duro
Tire Extreme DirtTrack series will kick off on
May 30 at the Ozark Mountain ATV Raceway in Ava,
MO, one of the most popular facilities on the
EDT tour. The action will be fast and furious
as American Honda’s Harold Goodman fights
to defend his dual championship against the likes
of 2008 runner-up Michael Coburn and Brad Riley,
who are eager for their shot at the title.
The staff at the facility have been working feverishly
to ready the track in time for the season opener
after a tornado swept through the area a couple
of weeks ago, almost destroying the track. “It’s
been tough, but we will be ready. We have all
the repairs done and even made a few improvements
along the way,” stated series promoter Roy
Reed.
Anticipation is running high for the starting
round as there will be some pretty stiff competition
in the Pro and Pro Lites class as Harold Goodman
tries to defend his dual championship in those
classes.
Goodman will have his hands full as Michael Coburn,
who finished second in points last season, has
been training hard and is eagerly awaiting his
chance at his first Pro championship. Brad Riley,
who finished third at the season’s end,
will also be making his return for a shot at the
title.
Chuckie Creech will be stepping up his game this
year, as he is now a factory supported KTM rider.
Creech will be sporting a new KTM 450SX for the
season and has been training harder than ever,
in hopes of dethroning Goodman.
After a one-year absence, Frank Batista will
be making a comeback to the Extreme DirtTrack
series with factory backing from the Polaris Rath
Racing Team. In 2007, Batista was consistently
in the top three and plans to do even better this
year. “ I plan to give Polaris their first
National Pro Championship,” said Batista
confidently.
Another Pro that was absent from the 2008 series
is Ohio racer Darin Ogden. Ogden will also be
making a return this season and is a favorite
choice for a possible top three finish.
In addition to an already impressive Pro roster
this year, Kendall Webb will be making the jump
to the Pro class as well. Last season Webb raced
the Pro class in the final round, with impressive
results, taking second place on the podium. Webb
is anticipated to have a strong first season and
will definitely be a factor in the Pro points
chase.
With fresh faces, new rides and the return of
some of the best Pro riders in the country, the
2009 Duro Extreme DirtTrack series promises to
be filled with plenty of high speed excitement,
and with championships on the line, the competition
will be fierce.
