Scotland (5/23/2011) - Mitchell
Wins at Shiplaw John Mitchell made it five wins
out of five as he took another first place podium
finish in round three of the 2011 Quad Racing
Scotland Championships.
Held at Shiplaw MX track between Peebles and
Penicuik on Saturday 21st May, ATV World Yamaha’s
John Mitchell raced with his 2009 YFZ450R practice
bike on a hard-packed track. With no qualifying
it was two practise laps before race one got
underway. John took the holeshot and never looked
back, finishing comfortably ahead of Leon Beda
and Barry Main.
Riding in third place during race two, John
rode well and passed Leon with only Mark Watson
ahead. As John was riding in second place, his
seat came off. John had to stop to fix the problem
and Leon passed him. He pushed hard and again
got passed Leon but on the last lap, his seat
came off again! John had to ride standing up
but was able to maintain his position and finish
second.
John was third into the first corner in race
three, just behind Leon and Mark. As he passed
Leon, disaster for Mark Watson as his axle snapped
which left John in first place, taking the win
and the overall first place on the day.
“It’s been a good, competitive
days racing which I’ve really enjoyed
ahead of the second round of the British Championships
at Duns in a few weeks. The track was really
good and we have been lucky with the weather
today. I’m still training hard this season
and of course I’m thrilled to have made
it five wins from five.”
As John mentioned, the next race for Team ATV
World Yamaha will be at Duns for round two of
the ACU Goldspeed British Quad Cross Championships
2011 on the 12th June.
