Northants, UK (7/18/2011) -
John Mitchell entered round seven of the ACU Nora-MX
Championship this weekend and continued in his
superb recent form to win overall and take the
fastest lap in each of the three 15 minute races.
Held at Milton Park, it was team ATV World Yamaha’s
first time at the track and a chance for John
to get to grips with it before the British Championships
arrive for the last two rounds in October.
Taking a confident approach into the first corner
of race one, John was in third place and passed
Carl Bunce, then Giles Davis to take the lead.
“It’s the kind of track where a good
start is vital” John said afterwards as
he took a comfortable win.
His words turned out to be true as he failed
to make a good start in race two, finding himself
in sixth position after the first lap John had
to work hard to pass. By the time he had got
up to second place, Mark Watson had pulled enough
of a gap and John had to settle for second.
On board his impressive ATV World Laeger’s
Yamaha YZF450R, John took the holeshot in race
three and never looked back. With the support
of some credible pit board work by Paul Winrow,
John made a 17 second lead over Mark Watson
to take the win and the overall round.
“Milton Park is a very technical track,
with lots of jumps and if you don’t get
a good start it’s going to be difficult
to pass. It has been a very good day testing
the new Stage 5 Elka shocks, as well as testing
out the track, seeing what it’s like ahead
of the final two rounds of the British Championship.
I’m really looking forward to round four
this weekend at Dean Moor. Many thanks to Nora-MX
for putting on a superb and well organised event.”
As John said, the team now head to Dean Moor
in Cumbria for the fourth round of the ACU Goldspeed
British Quadcross Championships where he currently
leads Mark Watson by 45 points. Further details
