Colten Moore Takes
Snowmobile Freestyle Winter X Gold
Colten Moore Amazing Recovery
from Death Defying Crash Wins 2012 Winter X
Aspen, CO (1/28/2012) - After
a horrifying crash during the Snowmobile Freestyle
competition at the 2012 Winter X Games, Colten
Moore came back and put in one of the most amazing
runs in history to win the gold medal while his
older brother Caleb Moore came home with the bronze.
The Snowmobile Freestyle event is one of the
most popular, with its death defying stunts, but
“death defying” hit a little too close
to home for Colten Moore. During his second run,
in heat one of the elimination rounds, Colten
took a big fall after he lost his grip in midair
during a double seat grab. Colten was coming down
head first in what could have been a huge tragedy,
but luckily he was able to flip onto his back
just before impact and walked away from the ordeal
relatively unscathed.
Even more amazing than Colten’s ability
to walk away from the crash was that he came back
in the finals with a score of 93.66, taking the
Winter X Games gold. Colten’s run was nothing
short of spectacular. The audience was on their
feet as he performed many FMX inspired tricks
including a Cordova Backflip and a Superflip Indian
Air.
"I knew I had to come out here and give
it everything I had. I've been training as hard
as I could for a few months, and I knew I had
to come out here and stomp the best run of my
life, and that's just what I did. I've never rode
so good in my life. I am so stoked to win!"
said Colten Moore.
Caleb Moore also had a great run, and showed
amazing style, but his score of 87.00 wasn’t
enough to beat out his younger brother. Caleb,
who has already won three medals in previous years
(two silvers and one bronze) again, claimed a
bronze medal for 2012.
Caleb and Colten Moore will also be competing
in the best trick competition on Sunday. You can
watch the competition at 9:00pm ET on ESPN.
