Colten Moore Strikes
Silver in Winter X Games Snowmobile Best Trick
Colten Moore Throws Down a
Tsunami Back Flip at 2012 Winter X Games
Aspen, CO (1/30/2012) - Colten
Moore came away with the silver medal in the 2012
Winter X Games Snowmobile Best Trick competition
after a gravity defying trick, but his older brother
Caleb would not fare as well, after a crash during
his first run had him a little shaken for run
number two.
The Snowmobile Best Trick competition is one
of the most popular events at Winter X Games and
this year history was made as Heath Frisby took
the gold by performing the world’s first
ever front flip on a snowmobile. Frisby nailed
the trick in his first run, which must have been
especially unnerving after watching Justin Hoyer
crash hard after a failed attempt at a double
backflip. “It’s the worst feeling
we get when we go out there. In your stomach in
your head, but I knew I trained for this and I
knew I was ready,” stated Frisby, who scored
an impressive 96.66.
Frisby had a somewhat hard landing, but no one
could top his amazing stunt, even Friday night’s
gold medal Freestyle winner, Colten Moore. Moore
was second in line to hit the ramp and executed
a perfect Tsunami Flip without hesitation in his
first run. Moore stuck the trick for such an extended
period that it looked as if he might not make
it back on his sled in time, but Moore was right
on target and landed with perfection. Moore repeated
his efforts for his second run and earned a score
of 89.66. “I went out there and did the
best I could, but it’s kind of hard to beat
what Heath Frisby just pulled off. I still had
a great time and I have to thank everyone that
has been behind me and Caleb,” stated Colten
Moore.
Joe Parsons went on to take the bronze medal
in the Best Trick competition, with a score of
88 points, and Cory Davis hung in for fourth place
with 79.33.
Caleb Moore was scheduled to take his turn in
third, right after his brother Colten. As soon
as Caleb hit the ramp, it was obvious he was in
trouble and he hit the snow hard when he came
down. Luckily, Caleb wasn’t injured and
walked away from the ordeal. Unfortunately, his
first run incident seemed to take its toll on
him as he appeared to have issues once again in
his second run. Moore did not crash, but he certainly
did not appear to be his normal death-defying
self and he would finish in fifth place.
With the end of Winter X Games at hand, Caleb
Moore will return home to Texas while Colten will
head off to rejoin the Nuclear Cowboyz tour, which
he took time off from to participate in the Winter
X Games. You can see Colten Moore in action with
the Nuclear Cowboyz at their next show which will
be held on February 4th in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.
