Chad Wienen Leads Pro Points Heading into ATVMX Budds Creek
AMA ATV MX Championship - Round 3 - Budds Creek MX - May 5 - 6, 2012

Morgantown, WV (5/4/2012) - Budds Creek Motocross is one of the most prestigious racetracks on the national motocross tour in both ATV and motorcycle racing and the fastest ATV motocross racers in the country are set to compete in Mechanicsville, Maryland this weekend, May 5 and 6 for round three of the AMA ATV Motocross National Championship

Series. Chad Wienen currently tops the overall standings with a four-race win streak, but the rest of the field is close in tow, and for every race Wienen sweeps, there’s sure to be even more intensity coming from his competitors.

The Wienen Motorsports / SSi Decals / Walsh Race Craft/Yamaha team continues to hold the coveted red number plate heading into round three this weekend and it’s right where they want to be this early in the game.

“I can’t thank my team enough for all their support this season and we’ve just been hard at work to be able to maintain the points lead here early on,” said Wienen. “I’m pumped for Budds Creek this weekend, we’re ready to race!”

Defending champion John Natalie now sits in second in the overall standings after just two rounds of racing. The Motoworks/Can-Am rider has been the closest of anyone to beating Wienen this year, as the two have battled back and fourth almost every moto this year. Natalie is known for his strong will and ability to excel in the roughest of conditions, so look for a steady run this weekend from the Ironman.

And then there’s Baldwin Motorsports/PEP/Maxxis’ Josh Upperman, who is known for his incredible holeshots and ability to lead early on, but the first two rounds have been a struggle for Upperman to stay on pace of the leaders for the entire race. As last year’s runner-up, though, Upperman is one of the fastest riders out there and has proven he’s able to withstand the competition.

Walsh Race Craft's Cody Gibson

Look no further than TBROWN Yamaha powered by Moto-X-Perts’ Thomas Brown and Motoworks/Can-Am’s Joel Hetrick to provide excitement on the track as the duo is currently tied for fourth place in the point standings. Brown is coming off an injury and is expected to only get better as the year goes on, and Hetrick has run into some bad luck this year but the young gun has shown his speed as the consistent ATVRiders.com Fastest Qualifier recipient this season. Hetrick has won before, and it’s only a matter of time before he puts together an overall win.

The pro riders will run Saturday as part of a full schedule of amateur racing, including classes for Youth, Women and Veteran riders. Amateurs will practice on Friday and race on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets on Saturday are $20 for spectators ($10 for ages 6-11), and admission includes full pro-pit access and an autograph session.

To get to the track, take Maryland Highway 234 and the track is directly off Hwy 234. For more information, please visit www.atvmotocross.com.
