lead in Millfield, OH

Morgantown, WV (6/29/2011) -
After a small break in the schedule, the 2011
AMA ATV Motocross National Championship Series
presented by DWT is back to racing this weekend,
July 2 and 3, at the newly added Sunday Creek
Raceway in Millfield, Ohio.
Sunday Creek Raceway is also one of thirteen
stops on the Can-Am Grand National Cross Country
Series, as well as a repeat host to many Loretta
Lynn AMA Amateur National Area Qualifiers and
Regional Championships.
John Natalie is looking to step up to the lead
this weekend The ATV Motocross family was saddened
to hear that current points leader Chad Wienen
suffered a season-ending practice crash last weekend,
leaving the factory Can-Am racer with two broken
vertebrae in his back. Wienen underwent surgery
on Saturday to stabilize his back and is now focusing
on his recovery process. Racers and fans will
have the opportunity to wish Chad a speedy recovery,
thanks to Ian Harris from SSi Decals, who is providing
materials to sign for Chad at this weekend's event.
John Natalie sits only ten points back from Motoworks
Can-Am teammate Wienen heading into the weekend.
Natalie has been contesting the championship all
season long, so the unfortunate news of his teammate
doesn't change his sheer focus on the season-end
title.
Ohio native Josh Upperman currently sits third
place in points heading into his home territory
and with a consistent string of finishes this
year, Upperman is favored to contest for the win
this weekend. Florida rider Jeremy Lawson is seventeen
points behind Upperman in fourth but the Suzuki
rider has been stepping up his game the last few
rounds. Lawson has a tendency to be one of the
fastest riders on the track, but needs to put
all the elements together for an overall win.
The points chase will heat up this weekend Amateur
classes will practice on Friday and race on both
Saturday and Sunday. Pros will run two timed practice
sessions on Saturday morning and race in the afternoon
as part of a full schedule of amateur racing,
including classes for Youth, Women and Veteran
riders. Local riders are encouraged to take part
in the amateur racing schedule and may sign up
at the event.
Tickets on Saturday are $20 for spectators ($10
for ages 6-11), and admission includes full pro-pit
access and an autograph session.
To get to the track, take 33 West 1.5 miles to
13 North (Chauncey exit). Go 3 miles into Chauncey.
Turn right staying on Route 13 North. Continue
for 10 miles to Jacksonville. Go right on Sixth
St. for 2 miles, and then turn left
