2011 AMA ATV Motocross Heads
to Pell City for Round 2
America's Premier ATV Motocross
Racing Series Comes to Mill Creek MX Park
Morgantown, WV (3/15/2011) -
The second round of the 2011 AMA ATVMX Championship
presented by DWT, will head to Pell City, Ala.
this weekend, March 19-20. The fastest four-wheeled
ATV riders in the world will compete for a chance
at the championship title.
This nationally televised event on the VERSUS
network is expected to draw nearly 800 riders.
With a full-gate of ATV Pro riders for 2011, there
is no telling who is going to claim the series
championship.
Motoworks / Can-Am rider Chad Wienen took the
victory at round one in Georgia, winning both
motos and claiming the early points lead in the
Pro class. Teammate John Natalie settled in behind
Wienen to carry the Motoworks / Can-Am team to
two out of three podium positions.
After finishing with a third overall in round
one, Baldwin Motorsports Honda rider Josh Upperman
has great potential to contest the Can-Am teammates
next weekend at Millcreek. Walsh Race Crafts Suzuki
rider Jeremy Lawson and Joe Byrd Quad Racing School's
Joe Byrd had a heated battle for the fourth overall,
with Lawson coming out on top. These two riders
have some unfinished business that is sure to
make things interesting at round two.
The Millcreek facility is surrounded by beautiful
hard woods, pine, creeks and rolling hills. With
its wide lanes, flowing natural jumps and enormous
elevation changes, the track exceeds two miles
in length from the starting gate to finish.
Tickets on Saturday are $20 for spectators ($10
for ages 6-11), and admission includes full pro-pit
access and an autograph session.
The pro riders will run as part of a full schedule
of amateur racing, including classes for Youth,
Women and Veteran riders. Amateurs will practice
on Friday and race on Saturday and Sunday. Pros
will practice on Friday and race on Saturday.
To get to the track from Birmingham, take I-20
East to Exit # 156; turn south, take 1st road
on the RIGHT, Roberts Mill Rd. Track is a short
distance on the LEFT. Watch for signs.
